I've got the forms filled out and I'm allowing the Disabled American Veterans represent me for my case. Just haven't submitted the paper work yet.
Just wondering if anyone is collecting and what their experiences have been like with the process.

I had a bad motorcycle accident when I was in, broken jaw in 3 places, lots of damaged teeth. Still have a steel plate in my chin. They didn't fix it right and now I suffer from daily migraine headaches. I also have joint pain. I was told I can get money for the scars on my face and body as well. There is more, but too much to go into.

I've been to the office. Just procrastinating to get my paperwork submitted for Disability Benefits.
What I'd really like is for them to just fix my jaw, but everywhere I've looked so far has been deadends. Can I go to the VA Hospital and get them to fix my jaw?

For that to happen you need the paper work you are procrastinating on. It sounds like you have a case for VA dental benefits, they are almost impossible to get.
Bottom line get the paper work turned in. You'd be amazed what you get disibility for and how much you get.

I'll get the missing stuff together this weekend. Life just gets so hectic that I forget it. Then I find the paperwork under the pile of papers on my desk and wonder "Why have I waited so long to get this submitted...."
I've already been told that I'm probably going to get at least 30 percent, maybe more.

I know it's easier to get VA benefits if you filed your claim before you left active duty. I would contact the nearest VA office/medical facility near you and ask them what your options are. A friend of mine is 10% disabled and they treat him pretty well. My back still gives me probs from when I was in. I should have filed a claim....

Well Im filling a disability claim under workmans comp. I tore my rotator cuff, a legiment, tendon, and have impingement syndrome in my right shoulder while at work. I did all this arresting a drunk guy who decided to fight on 9-12-04 and can finally get the surgery in Jan of 06. The city (my employer) kept fighting it and kept loosing and now my should is worse. :frown:
Im told I can recieve anywhere from 4000-15000 for the injury. And checks as the years go on.

yeah dd, if you file that paperwork while still active duty, its much easier to get it fixed.... i think you should still be able to get worked on, not positive since its been awhile... but they did fuck you up worse so it is their fault.... go talk to va

But it may be tougher than you all think because of one key point. The accident was his fault. You should be able to have them fix the surgery that they fucked up, but not get disability. You have to have proof that they caused the headaches. That would be a pretty tall order, they could day that the headaches were caused by the accident that was you fault not the surgey to fix it.

Actually, from what I hear, it don't matter if it was my fault or not. Besides, I was never found liable. And it don't matter that it was during my free time either. Active Duty is full time 24/7.
The headaches don't have to be proven either. It is relatively common for my kind of injury, and I have an injury to connect it too. 1 month of in-patient care, and 8 months of follow-ups 3 times a week are all the proof I need. All documented.
If they really press the issue, I have a recent emergency room visit where the doctors were baffeled by my migraine. I was seeing shit that wasn't even there. They did a cat scan and didn't find a tumor, so I'm good there.
Every doctor that I've had look at my jaw is usually shocked by it. It deviates so much you can see it, and pops so loudly you can hear it, without even trying to notice.

No to pull permanent dissabitly you would have to prove it. We had a guy who recently was in the army before he got kicked out he was in a motorcycle accident. Because it was no the Armys fault he got what needed fixed but no disability. See what I mean.
