1.On most Automatic settings you have a quick switch button that switches between the weapon you are using and the previously selected weapon. That button most of the time is Q. What I usually do is make sure I have my main gun selected and have my pistol as the secondary selected. If I run out of ammo in my primary I just hit Q and BAM I have my pistol ready to go.
2. The console can be activated by hitting the ~ button. In that console you can type a list of commands. I left a link for all these commands in a previous post. I made a huge post about tweaking the game and a nice BUY SCRIPT etc that can be found at http://thegng.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1163#post1163

4. The easiest weapons to master are:
Pistols: USP and Desert Eagle
MP5
M4A1
Aug or Sig
and of course the AWP
5. Like said before All maps have a choke point where people will all rush too. Learn the maps. If need be go start your own game from the load up of the game and run around the maps figuring out where the hostage/bomb points are and switch sides to get a feal from both sides of the players. The quicker you learn the maps the better off you will be
6. Rush when you can to point A to point B usually in a team. Never go out alone because you will be ambushed eventually and 1 man cannot usually stop an entire team of the enemy. There are also times to walk when its just a few of you alive. You can keep yourself alive a little longer if you walk around silently and wait for the other person to screw up and give away there position.
7. Always follow the man with the bomb. If your playing a Bomb map the whole objective is to plant. Even if the idiot is going the wrong way you still follow him so you can retrieve it if he dies.
8. In Post #2 there is a link for a buy script. This buy script is not illegal in any way shape or form. It may however be frowned upon by people like Cold because he thinks it n00bish, but for people that are lazy like me or just want to get it done quickly without messing with the buy menu can set 1 key to buy stuff you need instead of searching throughout the menus. This helps to speed up the process of getting out of spawn and into the field before you get caught by the opposing teams rush.
9. When aiming at someone if you have the ability to do so shoot for the head. The best thing to do however is aim for the chest. Since most of the guns have alot of recoil the guns will move up. You can do most of the damage in the chest and with the recoil you can get a lucky headshot or 2.
10. Remember to buy Kevlar. You may not need to buy a helmet all the time, but Kevlar will deffinate save your ass on many occassions.
11. When the rifles like the M4, Aug, AK, or SIG use a burst fire technique to control the recoil. Burst fire is simply popping off 1-3 shots at a time.
12. Accuracy is usually better when shooting in a crouched position.
13. Make your settings for your controls, mouse sensitivity, screen options to where they are going to be comfortable to you. All of these things can be changed in the options part of the opening game.
14. Practice makes perfect.
