Ok,
Some 4-5 hours later, things are looking pritty cool. A definate difference when your own cash, Real life cash, is linked to the game. Seems they make cash on the way in and out of the system, at 3.5% in going tax rate ... kinda. Having a credit card is handy.
The one thing I found most problematic, was the moment. At the start is was near impossible to move around, I had to read the instructions and then only after a couple times did I finaly see the stuff I needed to. After that, it is better, but still seems ackward to move around, or turn around and see stuff.
So far from what I seen it is worth some play time. Even the Newbie has a role in the game. That is to collect "sweat" from the animals. Since you are near naked, it is about all you can do till you infuse some cash or collect enough "sweat" to sell to get equipement. But selling is not a problem, as there is a market for everything, and sweat is on the list non-stop.
Putting cash into your avitar, as they say, is not easy. You are limited at the begining to $20 US transfer to your game acount, by credit card. After you get your statement, there is a code so that you can input that to "activate" your card, for larger amounts, so up to a month wait. Till then, the limit is $10 US per month. Nice they protect the user as much as they can. You can buy an appartment for 250 game dollars. $1 US cash = 10 game PEU. With the initial amount you could buy all the equipment you need for such things as mining or combat.

whoa, hold on, so how does this game pay you to play??

Well,
Lets say, in the beginning, you would make no cash. But after a bit, skilling up some, it is very possible to at least recover cash spent. Some have what they call a meager income from the game, but then I would hope to get something back for spending 10000 $US.
After spending some time playing this thing, I have decided to check it out for a year, see how it goes, and whats there.
I have done some searching for info related to the game, like I would for EQ, SWG, GW .... But info was not easy to come by. Something about having real cash attached to the game that makes players not want to share? I found a few sites, but they seem old, 2002ish time frame. And again very little info. Just the fact I can not get information by just looking it up on the web makes the challenge and interrest go up for me. There is some indication within the game that there is space travel, which again I have not been able to find anything about it.
You can play this game for free, and make cash. ($1.20 / 5 hours) Gathering sweat. As a noob it is one of the ways you can make cash, selling it to players. Also there are fruit and Dung on the ground which players also buy. (so far, they are not common)
Also while reading some FAQ, the expected bandwidth for this App is 125k. Which is not trivial, and game performance is affected by connection issues.

Buying video game dung FTW!
I cant believe you can just download it... how is the imagry on the game? Can you make a comparison to something we might have played?
Sounds interesting... but ultimately - it sounds like you will just lose money playing this game. Perhaps I have the wrong perception - I am sure some one has found a way to make some money... but ultimately - it looks like more will be put in than will be given back.

Ok,
This is how I look at it. But from the point of veiw that it is a subscription game.
First you pay 50-75 to purchase most games. Every month you pay 14.99 to play. Over a year you will spend about $255. You will NEVER get it back, it is just pay for play.
With Entropia, you put in as much cash as you like from $0 to ..... with initial cost being again zero. But lets say I put in $100, and buy stuff with it. I could after I use the stuff, aution it off. And things hold value too. Once all your stuff is sold, you could recover your $100.
Where else can you sell shit to players and have them go off happy???
So if I played for a year, and blew 250 and did not recover a cent, I would still be in the same place I would have playing WoW.
The game play is very much like SWG, or it reminds me of SWG. The App itself seems better than SWG but there are issues. Graphics are good, and game play is fun. The controls are unlike any other game I have played. There are lots of indications that there is lots to see and do.
I think I feel the challenge to go play and see if I can break even, and in the mean time have fun playing.

ahh.. ok - I get it now...
...interesting concept.
How are the graphics?

The graphis are good. Critters are cool too.
Player graphis are cool, once you are not a noob anymore.
Seen this one player with some tool, or something, put it over thier head and electricute themself hehehe not sure what that was about, but the Graphics were pritty cool. I think there is an attempt to make it real looking as appose to comic looking. Emote system is extencive. The girls are hot looking long as you do not get too close to thier face. Seems the noob is particularly ugly, there is a plastic surgery skill, so there is how they get their face fixed.

I had heard about this one a while ago,
some dude spent $26k on in game real estate (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4104731.stm).
No joke.
I cant see myself spending too many gaming hours here however.
The possibilities have to much potential to be rewarding...

Got to say,
Im sold on this entertainment form. I will be spending more time here. I have managed to find a few more cities on the main contenent, which opens up more variaty in hunting.
Watching the population stat in the main home page and it is going up by about 1200 new players each day. All those newbies collecting sweat, no wonder the price is down.

1200 every day,
that could send any economy spinning...
