So, for the longest time our network here at home has been slow as shit as far as downloads, uploads, and other activity on the www. I knew there was something wrong on our end, as every time I ran a speed test, it maxed out at 26 Kbps. Sometimes it was a whoping 27, but never slower than 26. Whenever there would be two people using the network, it slowed to a dial-up type crawl. Pings in game would jump to 700 + just because someone on the other machine was trying to load a webpage. This was unnacceptable...we're paying for BellSouth's DSL Extreme.
Last night I disconnected the other puter and plugged mine directly into the modem. No changes...26 Kbps. I updated the firmware on the modem, and the router...no changes. I gave up and went to bed.
This morning, still stumped as to what was causing the problem, and being certain it was something on my end, I pulled out the phone lines, and to my dismay...the modem was plugged into the filter, and the phone was not. Problem solved. It was as simple as that.
Now, you're probably thinking..."what a dumb ass". Well, before you go spouting such pleasentries at me...it wasn't me that commited the idiotic atrocity that's been plagueing me for several months.
Back when Hurricane Dennis came through here, my retarded, stupid, I wish she would die and rot in hell sister in-law decided she would play IT-girl. You know, after a couple power flickers, she could not figure out why she couldn't get on-line. Even after she'd been told not to touch the computers. Well, she comes in here when we're not looking and starts un pluging shit, and pluging it back in. She disconnected the router, instead of resetting it, and for some stupid reason...yup, you guessed it: she plugged the lines into the wrong places.
Now, since we're on the subject of my, for lack of worse words, stupid, idiotic, psychotic, fat, ugly, I wouldn't waste my time shitting in her face or pissing on her if she were on fire, sister in-law...I think you need to have a little insight as to what type of person she is. She's bi-polar, and won't take her meds. She's been in the psych-ward three times. Baceracted once. Before I met my wife, they had gotten into a screaming match, and she hit my wife in the face. The sister called to cops and wanted to press charges for assault, and when the cops got there, they saw my wife's black eye, and proceeded to arrest the sister. When she was staying with us (as a favor to her parents) in VA, she stole money from me. When I confronted her about it, she had said someone must have broken in. Yes, they broke into our apt. and took 20 whole dollars out of my dresser, and left the other 380...along with both computers, the TV, and my wifes jewelery. And I was suppose to believe this? SOmeone would take only $20 out of $400, at Christmas time?
So yeah, I really do hate her. I've never hated anyone so much in my life. She's the one that I cringe at the mere sound of her voice. She's the one that even her own parents talk bad about her. If you ask her dad about her, he'll say "you can tell she's lying, she opened her mouth".
Anyway, I'm just bored, had some stupid shit on my mind, and no-one to talk to. I thought I'd share my thoughts with you all.
On a more positive note: We found a piece of land we're trying to buy. About a half acre in the somewhat country, (with broad-band available). We're going to put a "manufactured" home on it. It's a start, and when we get tired of living there, we'll have a rental property.
