The stats are up there for fun. This is the first evening and already I have had people whining because they arent on the "winning team" and it's going to mess up their stats. Shit like that just makes all the work NOT worth it! If people start whining enough they'll be removed from the stats entirely.

It's lame that people are consumed by something so stupid to the point that it affects others' gameplay. The server is there for people to come in and have a good time, not whine endlessly about anything and everything.

AR, I haven't been playing this game long and I know my skill is at best moderate, so stats don't really concern me. Though there IS a small competitive side of me, however unfortunate, that wants to have good stats, probably because of the amount of time I've been investing in this game lately. I'm not playing/planning to suck forever, you know.

My comments directed at you on the server were actually just a pre-emptive message I had planned on posting here anyway. Stats change the gameplay of the entire server and definitely NOT for the better. It's because of the nature of the game itself. Teams that are losing will more often than not continue to lose if the dynamics of the two teams don't change.

That's because the winning team gets more money after each victory while the losing one gets less. That is a concept I will never understand about Counter-Strike. If a team is losing badly after several rounds, if anything, some sort of handicap should be given to the losers to make up for the skill difference in the two sides. Instead MORE advantage is given to the winning team in the form of more money. Completely stupid in my opinion, but whatever, it's there.

Stats make it to where people will never want to willingly change the dynamic of two teams where one is losing really badly. Like I said in a previous post, skill will only get you so far in this game. It's a TEAM game and if you have a shitty team, your kill/death ratio is going to reflect that no matter if you're Rambo or not. If I'm a good player and I want people to recognize my skills by the stats counter (WHY ELSE IS IT THERE) then why should I as a player switch teams and head over to that losing side where I know my kill/death ratio is going to take a massive hit?

You saw it tonight first-hand. Graffix joined my team which was Counter-Terrorist and then left after getting no kills and 4 deaths. 5 minutes later he was back on the server but THIS time he was on the Terrorist squad. He then went several rounds of owning because he was on a good team. I can't really say I blame him. Losing is not fun! It takes somebody with character to stay on a losing team and keep playing even after round and round of getting totally decimated. But with stats you just make it worse, because you're actually penalizing a guy for trying to balance a bad situation.

Just remove my ass from the stats. I just looked at them and I am dead last. There is no fucking way out of 105 people I'm the worst one. All day I kept switching to the losing teams to try to balance shit out and I get shit on because of it. So fuck it. Fuck your god damn stats. Fuck all of this shit!!!!!1

A lot of the points that you make are excellent and completely valid. Having said that, if the stats become more trouble than they're worth, we'll do away with them.

Now... I dont really think it will be as big an issue as you would like to think. Once we weed out the riff-raff and actually have some decent regulars playing on the server, this will all become a moot point. The majority of people want to just play and have fun, the stats are a "novelty" item. If people dont want to have fun above all else then they can hit the road for all I care.

I know it sucks to lose but what difference does it make? You are still playing with the same people and talking about the same old shit. The maps only last 19 rounds so its not like you have to endure dying for that long. Besides, you get lots of points for completing mission objectives (something I wish more people would try for) so its entirely possible that your K:D ratio is in the toilet but you have a nice ranking on the server.

I could go on and on but the point is to just have join in and have fun. Play with the GNG guys and whatever regulars might be on there and have a good time. I'm always trying to find ways to improve the server and add little things so that when I go to play, everyone can have fun, including myself.

Calm down buddy. You actually arent dead last. You are only dead last of those that are ranked. So there are actually 73 people worse than you as of right now.

As far as switching teams go, I dont really know what you're thinking. Very rarely have I played in games when its a toss up between which team is better. One of the 2 teams usually dominates and thats just something we have to deal with. The only thing you can do is to contribute to the team as much as possible. I usually try to get something going (especially when losing) over voice and if we still suck at least we tried.

I myself have always tried to balance teams. Although, it usually never does any good. The fact of the matter is, if the team doesn't work well together it's going to lose. As far as stats go, I like knowing where I stand against the rest of the regs. The only thing I miss, and there's nothing to do about it, is the instant hit stats that you get with /statsme, or whatever the hell it's called. it sucks not knowing if I even hit the guy that just pwned me.

Bring down the console after you die. It tells you how much damage you gave to people and how much you took from people. It breaks it down down and tells you how much damage each person gave to you and how much you gave to them.

Why is it that my stats haven't been updated? It says the last time I played was 12/30. I was on the last two nights. The only reason I noticed is because I've been stuck at 87 for the last three days.

There is an issue with the stats program and the "new year". A new version is to be released soon (a couple of days, maybe) that will take care of the problem. Instead of jumping through hoops for the work around, I would rather wait for the new release.

*EDIT* I just checked and the new version should be out tomorrow, Jan 6th.
