One of the nice things about having lived overseas is havin gained a good sense of what actually constitutes "news". As much as the political right loves to whine like a bitch about the "liberal" media it just isn't true. The media actually leans nicely to the right and the two main cable news networks are the worst - FOX and FOX Lite (aka CNN). They are both so deeply up the ass of the right its not funny.

Here is a case in point.

I was chatting with a friend from the UK and he wanted to know how the disasterous trip the president made to India and Pakistan was going over with the american people. I didn't know what he was talking about because as I was watching CNN last night waiting for the John Stewart interview CNN had almost nothing bad to say about the presidents visit to the area except to mention that there were 1,000 or so moslem protestors upset by his visit.

The report by the "liberal" media couldn't be more far from the truth.

The people protesting Bush's visit numbered over 100,000 and Moslems didnt even comprise the majority of the people upset with him. Indians from left wing political parties, student organizations, moslems, the scientific community and labor parties comprised the protesting groups. Whoops.

The "liberal" press didn't mention that the President of the United States was forced to give his speech in the New Delhi Zoo and Boat club. LMAO, a fucking ZOO!!!! This is bc it was the only place where the Indian gov't could guarantee there would be no hecklers. Indian legislators threatened a noisy reception for Bush if he attempted to address parliament. Whoops.

Then I learned what Bush said at the speech mystified Indians and Pakistanis: "I believe that a prosperous, democratic Pakistan will be a steadfast partner for America, a peaceful neighbor for India and a force for freedom and moderation in the Arab world." Since Pakistan is not an Arab nation, Indians and Pakistanis, alike, were confused about what Bush was talking about. Pakistan is not populated with Arabs (they represent less than 10% of the total population of Pakistan) and has little influence on the arab world.

I wondered why the scientific community was protesting the Prez and found nothing on CNN or FOX. So I read some english newspapers and low and behold I found the truth to be both fair and balanced.

Earlier this year three top ranking Indian scientists were invited by thier american colleagues to attend a scientific conference in the US. Two scientists were Nuclear Physicists and the other an Agro-scientist. After two days and 14 page questionaires all three were denied visas and vowed never to set foot in the US again. They were denied entry bc thier ideas on the radiation biology, genetics and sustainable agriculture were not in line with the Bush Administration's (or more properly the big business') policies.

In response to the lone consulate in India that denied these scientists the right to come to a conference that they were invited to President Bush announced during his trip that his administration would open yet another US consulate in Hyderabad. Sadly, it will probably be staffed with US foreign service personnel who will continue to represent the incompetence and ignorance of Condoleezza Rice and George W. Bush.

The best part is even my 14 year old daughter can't get over the difference in the quality of foriegn and domestic news broadcasts.

Ah Fox. If it wasn't for the Simpsons, and Family Guy I would fucking hate you. Yuo took away the bes show on TV (Arrested Development) you keep one the worst shows ever (Prison Break) and you don't reprt SHIT about the real news, unless it was a positive Republican outcome.
Republicans are fucking asshole ignorant fucks.
Democrats are fucking douchebag high and mighy pricks.

The media should reprt whatever the fuck goes on, from ALL points of view not whatever point the source has.

P.S. 14 yr old daughter Thirty??!!!

Simpsons Family Guy American Dad Arrested Development

Its odd thatthey are on FOX, isn't? Even though FOX can kiss my ass and sniff my dingleberries I guess I can't say they are stupid. Simpsons and maybe Family Guy will become/are part of broadcast history. To bad they have that FOX taint.

haha!! A zoo! That rawks! I hope they made him do it right in front of the heckling shit throwing monkeys :)

The idea of the "liberal" media has always amazed me. They are about as liberal as the corporations who own them.

My daughter and I were watching the news last night and the "liberal" media spent 4 minutes of a 30 minute broadcast discussing a house fire that was SOOOO hot it burned a whole in the *GASP* roof of the home. Shocking.

Meanwhile the american dollar is trading with the canadian dollar at a rate at least at a TEN YEAR LOW. Why do I say at least? Because I stopped researching the value of the US dollar vs. the Canadian dollar at 1995 becuase I had to go pick up Thai food for dinner for my family.

But just how significant is this and how did I find this out? My family visits canada every year (usually) but not last year bc of the pregnancy. So were planning our trip for this year and I took a peak at the exchange rates. When we first went we loved taking advantge of an almost 2:1 exchange rate.

If we leave now the US dollar that used to buy 1.50 canadian only gets 1.13 canadian. Did canadians suddenly get much richer? I think not. If .37 doesn't seem a lot to you then you really haven't travelled abroad.

When we used to go I would convert about 2000 bucks into 3000 and play a fat cat in Montreal or QC. We could stay in a very nice hotel effectively for free. Now my 2000 gets me only 2260 - still favorable but a tremendous difference.

How is this not news? No offense, I like and respect and admire our northern neighbor immensely but the canadian dollar has long history, LONG history of being weak internationally. Now the US dollar is almost equivalent to the Canadian dollar? Whoops.

Come on liberal media where are you? Oh but a house fire that burns a whole in the roof is news? Come on, even my 14 year old daughter can detect that bullshit.

I didnt have cable for a long time, so it was between Fox, ABC, and CBS, Well we all know CBS sucks, (i am referring mostly to sports programming in my opinions) ABC has lost MNF because of hiring John Madden and that fuckin comedian for their seasons. So FOX was the only thing I had, seeing how they had simpsons and family guy and american dad...so on....But I must agree, I have heard it so much from so many people. Fox does force their political thoughts on their viewers

Oh yeah, onto the subject at hand, Our government looks pretty lame for resorting to doing a speech in a zoo... This should open another good 5 pages of bush jokes for the talk show hosts
