Steam problems at school..

So I try to load steam and I get this message after the "Updating Steam" box comes up with no bars filling it.

Steam.exe (main exception):Unable to start steam engine: *SteamStartEngine (0x13e8c8) failed with error 200: Connection Reset, Winsock Error 10054 "Connection reset by peer"


So I am guessing this has something to do with my school network? It was working before I left and now this crap. Any of you fine computer savy folk know what could be going on and if it is my network or my comp? If it is a problem with my network what should I tell the administrator. (small college so i can talk to em)

Perhaps the ports that are needed to connected are blocked by the firewall? Do you even get to log in?

yeah it sounds like you are being blocked... but try looking through some of these and see if they pertain to your issue...

Thanks for the help guys, still no luck after DLing some winsock files that I was supposed to need but have never had? I was hoping this would solve the issue because I had some major virus removal the night before it did this and they said winsock can be effected by that. I looked through some other stuff on the steam site but I guess the only other thing it could be is the ports.
Also, everyone in my dorm has had issues getting on aim and signing on the past week so that may have something to do with it if aim uses ports related to steam..
