Why Crestview? My little bro lives there and my mom n dad live in Baker, but they grew up there. Everytime I return home I look at Crestview and think "what a pisshole." It's proof that city planning is a useful taxpayer expense. Didn't Juan advise you?

I hate Crestview. It's a podunk town that really outgrew it's britches but still has a podunk mindset. I know it's close to the gate, but traffic from either direction is a pain. If I were to choose to live N/ E of the base I'd just go ahead and get a house way out - like Milligan. Holt, Baker, Laurel Hill. You may have to deal with the podunk mindset, but you have privacy and the benefits of being in the country and land. Ft Walton and Niceville still have bad city planning but better than Crestview and they have urban amenities.

Because I found a house I could afford and the lot is almost half an acre. I didn't want to have to drive from Holt or Milligan every morning.

LOL noticed the place change. Are you buying or renting?

The neighborhood here has changed a lot since you moved. The ghetto here has turned into a barrio. Every immediate neighbor except 1 is now hispanic (front right). The 1 is a black family. There are maybe 4 non-hispanic families on the whole street now. I think I have 2 chopshops (1 next door, 1 is 2 doors down) being run out of garages nearby, but I can get car parts for good prices and they do know a lot about cars and stereo systems. When it was ghetto, it was a lot quieter too, aside from the kids. You now have kids, lots of fireworks, frequent parties with loud Tejano/ TexMex and bad 80s music, and ricers with fart pipes racing up and down Alexander. It's as stereotypical as you can get.

I think everyone has at least 12 people in a house and each one owns a car. For a while I was lucky if someone only blocked half the driveway. I've had people park IN my yard and IN the driveway, but after they've seen me really lose it that changed in the last year maybe. I don't recall anyone blocking my driveway since my last outburst a few months ago.

The 2 neighbors across the street speak some English, but only the head of each house & the kids. The neighbors on either side do not. Most people don't.

It's a culture shock. But even still, I'd rather live here than Crestview.

I think you'll make an excellent slum lord. You just need to gain another 50 lbs and grow some back hair.
