What setting did you use on the Opensign to shoot the bright sign while the dimmer stuff stayed OK? IE, I can see in the back room to the left and it isn't under exposed much.

I would normally get that from the metadata attached, but all that is gone.

Also the whalebone girl looks very realistic. Did you go from scratch, have a photo you worked over....?

That open sign was taken with all auto no flash in a dark room. It was the day after I got my D50 and was mainly just shooting in auto.

The whalebone started from a girl that I grabbed from the net and then painted over her.

Alot of stuff now is either using a resource and painting it and chaning things on it or it is hand drawn. We have the Wacom tablets at my work and they are killer being able to draw freehand makes all the difference in the world. It just takes some people a little while to get used to it.

I mainly use photoshop 5.5 actually (NO I DONT WANT CS2!!!1!!) and then I use corel draw and sometimes I actually use Illustrator. Ive been using PS for a lonnng time now. I actualy took a class for it with Nebula when we were in school.

Actually the Healing Brush and Fix Perspectives in the last 2 versions are pretty sweet. I'd upgrade for those alone. I have hot/ stuck pixels on my camera, but the healing brush is just click, click, click and they are all gone. No matter how much I clean, I always have dust too. I'm sure it's almost as fast with the color picker and air brush/ sponge tool for you working in PS day in/ day out, but for me it's a life saver.

It really helps to breathe out right before you take the shot. Take a couple deep breaths then hold your shutter button halfway so it does its autofocus then breathe out one last time and take your shot.

hee hee

I always hold my breath when I take pics

I'm not sure if its helps me or not. I shake like crazy. Maybe its the cigarettes or maybe I'm just nervous all the time :p

SNK has it spot on for taking pics. Take about 2 breaths then hold it, snap your shot and move on. If you notice you still shake it's probably because you need to eat or are fiending. That should be taken care of before shooting. I've gotten it down to not shaking at all even on the shoulder with my video camera, it just takes years of practice.
