well, I think he's legit...

...just kidding

I think shit like that should get your hardware permanently banned from all Punkbuster games, not just BF2.

I also think Valve should do that, but they have their own way, and I guess it works, since I havnt seen a hacker in CSS in quite some time.

That rocket launcher looks fun though

I'm trying to recall what his set up was

I know it was a Dell.

I thought it was at least a 2.5 or 3 gig

but his ram was dangerously low

something like 256 megs....maybe 512 but I think only 256

that is probably the main issue

however i have no idea what his vid card was

Tiege you should be able to go into your system info and retreive what youre running

go to start .......accessories...system tools...system information

to get your vid card info go to start ...control panel...system...hardware...device manager....display adapters

Yes, I have 1.5 gigs of ram and it runs fairly smooth for the most part. I would recommend 2 gigs for BF2. .. That game is a huge resource hog.

Plus I don't recommend running WinXP on 256 either... atleast 512.

lets see.....

I am a little curious about your RAM, I see like 3 different values there for how much RAM you have. I understand one is physical and one is virtual, but usually they are the same (if I am not mistaken) unless you diliberately change how Windows handles RAM.

If you do not have this in your machine already, I would suggest getting your machine up to 2 Gigs of RAM. BF2 seems to run quite nicely on 2GB of RAM. You can probably make it with just one, but you might as well go all out. (if you can afford it of course.. RAM isnt cheap)

Your processor is probably ok. Being an AMD user, I am not too quite sure what the Intel equivalent is.. but I would imagine that 2.8Ghz would run the game just fine...

Now last but not least, I would have to know what kind of video card to are running. I would suggest a card with 256MB of RAM if possible. I know the cards start getting kind of pricey at that point, but you wont be disappointed, I promise.

Sammie
04-30-2006, 01:55 PM
i would suggest that if youre going to invest money into a vid card then I would go ahead and get a 512

I just dont think the 256 is going to last you much longer

Also for future reference I would never buy a box machine.
Find someone you know...there are plenty of us here....that can build your rig. That way you know what you have and that its what you need.
Box systems are great for people who use their computer as a glorified type writter just to send email and check the local news every now and again. But if you have a rig for gaming then either build it yourself or go to a box dealer that specializes in gaming rigs, like alienware. But in the end youre better off money wise by building that rig yourself.

your hard drive has 16 gigs left? is that what you mean?

if so, not enough drive space makes no sense

thegreaterbad
04-30-2006, 11:17 PM
alrighty then, I shall start saving my money and find one of you comp guru's to build thee gaming rig, Just give me a good price and I will send a money order when you are done with the monster, I dont mind mailing it before the machine gets here, if you cant trust your gaming clan you have known for over a year, who can you trust?

Sammie
05-01-2006, 12:41 PM
what you have available on your dvd drive doesnt matter

you NEED more ram

BF2 is not going to run on 256 megs of ram

reinstalling is a waste of time
