So,
Who has picked this up? I have been playing it the past few nights. Got a lvl 11 Assasin. Lots of new critters and items so far. Have got to a point where I need to level a bit to proceed, as the primary quest is very tough at level 11.

The game looks awesome of course and the gameplay has only gotten better. We had our pre-orders sent to Angel's mom's house so now we are just waiting on her to send them to us. Shouldn't be to long and you'll get to see angel in leather... wait. Her character in leather.

How is it, does it make you feel like monsters are popping out of your screen? I want to get it, but budgets suck. How are the new classes? They make the game interesting? And did they replace any other classes with them? Last but not least, can you invite people who dont have the game like me into it?

The game is very cool. A good update from what I've seen from the free weekend. I like the fact that even PvE players can do casual PvP if we want.
Quick update. Mother in law sent the games so we should have them as fast as USPS can get em here.

have you created a new character?
If you create a new character yoo will start off in the new world
If you use your old character, you have to travel to lion's arch to take your old character to the new world.

i just used my old one..
i started off in the middle... i dont know of what exactly but it was by the ship... then i took the ship to lions arch... then i looked at my map and it was the old world.... then i played some sort of challenge (its part of factions) against the comp with 3 other random people and got my ass handed to me by dust traps... i think im lost... anyone help me out?

Not to sound like to much of a whiner, but this game has really gone in the opposite direction that I has hoping it would go. The early promises that were made about it seem to have been forgotten. The idea of the game was that it was not to be about what gear you had but your skill in playing the game. This no longer seems to be true as all the nice weapons that i worked so hard for are now nerfed. I used to do rather well in team arenas. Now well lets just say the upgraded mods have made things ugly. It just seems that the game becomes less of an RPG with each passing moment. i was thinking of getting factions. Now I'm thinking I might just save my money for the PC upgrades I'll need for when NWN2 comes out. Sry, I now this a rather pointless and that I'm bitching, but I've been playing this game for a long while and I don't deserve to have the toons that i worked so hard on, being made obsolete in pvp. It would be different if they were to make some improvements to the roleplaying aspects of the game as well. But it seems NCsoft will never climb out of the pit of their games devolving into a mindless jock fest. All the things that made Guildwars different from thier other games are slowly being stripped away. Well, we will see how I feel when money isn't so tight, but but things are starting to look grim for GW. Thanks for listening.
Love, Dave

In a way, I kind of agree with this post.
Its not exactly the same thing you were saying... but I do feel as if it is kind of ridiculous that if some one wants to me a "PVP" character.. they START OUT with a character just as powerful as the one I have made from scratch...and faught my way across the board.
They should give the people who have actually devoted their time in to levelling up their character a little edge. Perhaps allowing those people to go to LVL 21 or something...

When Guild Wars first came out the PvE characters did have an advantage in that they could unlock skills much faster than PvP characters could. The PvP characters were mostly stuck with playing only the premade templates which, although good, were made somewhat obsolete as strategies evolved and different builds came about and then fell by the wayside. That's not the case anymore because they started giving you much more points for winning PvP matches, which you could then take to a priest and unlock skills or weapon mods or what have you. I had pretty much every skill in the game unlocked right when I quit but all I did was PvP.
The best thing to do for a game like Guild Wars is not to treat it as an RPG where you get attached to and take pride in certain characters, but really as an overall PvP experience where the person behind the screen means more than the actual character in the game, like in counter-strike or something. High level PvP in GW means you will be swapping characters out regularly depending on what your team needs at any given time, so attachment is the last thing you want. One game your team may need an energy denial mesmer, the next a protection monk, etc. All of which you will be creating and deleting on the fly using PvP characters. When you look at it like that, you see that your PvE characters arent really that important and have never really been important, except to have fun and enjoy the story. Which I guess is important depending on your point of view and why you play.

Well Mr GB, not a whole lot. I play Hearts of Iron 2 and a little bit of F.E.A.R. I got burned out on MMOs and I'm waiting for some other good games to come out. What chu been up to, maaaaaaaaan?

I have been working and playing CS/GW when I get a chance. And also going to sleep every night praying to the Man upstairs that while I sleep he will send a Computer Angel through my window to make my computer super 1337 so that I can play BF2 and F.E.A.R.
I played the demo for FEAR, and while it still ran a bit slow for me; The episodes of Non-reality like the room filled with blood really kicked ass and the part descending the ladder and seeing the lil girl looking down at you as you turned scared the shit out of me. I was so caught off guard I think I had to take an extra breath.
But I am kind of discouraged with the Gaming's world selection of games, since BF2 and GW they haven't released any "shock and awe" games. They need to get off their asses and make a game that will bump the standard for games up one more notch. I want some damn Virtual Reality before I am too old to run around dammnit!!!!
Ok this post has nothing to do with Factions yet, Factions looks cool, I will buy it one day woot..

Im stuck in Oblivian. Totally awsome.
As for guild wars, I dont know. The game is nice and all, just my connection to it seems so bad all the time. Is unplayable to much of the time for me.
I have a real problem with the lack of healing in the Henchies group. The one healer that is available I swear is more conserned about the other henchies than the real player. Use to be there was one healer and one protector. Now there is no protector, and some lame ass spiritualist which always draws the agro way into the group. I use to be able to do most everything in the game with henchies but now, you can hardly get out of a city.
Good to see you still hanging around Undefined
I to am looking forward to something new. Something with a little more detail than a track to run through. I want the EQ of 2006 damit.
Anyone that comes across a good game that we as a "group" might like please post up links.
My son is playing D&D and it looks pritty good, though limited in level and game content. Only playing since it came out, he has been on the top quest several times.

I'm still enjoying GW but I'm still a MMO newbie so I really have nothing to compare it too. The biggest thing for me is no pay to play. I still want to get into PvP but with RL happening I'm not sure if that is ever going to happen. Angel and I are currently working through Prophecies so she can get to the last areas of the game and finally see the ending. With a lot of help from Mark, Sammie, Zzalal, Sckoarn, JB and others we are doing it, albeit slowly.

Monk,
PvP is an up and coming feature of online D&D. I am considering this more and more. My son has been playing since release, and is seemingly still very much into it. But he has been building a PvP toon since he read that PvP will be part of D&D Online.
If you do start playing this, be sure to let me know, we can start up together.

Sckoarn if you are looking for the EQ of 2006 Vanguard might be what you are seeking. The original makers of EQ (before Sony took over) are making it (from what I hear) and I have glanced at it. Right now they are in the progress of populating the world for the beta testers right now but the engine and everything is complete and in place. The game looks promising but I am going to need a new PC to run it also, graphics are pretty impressive from what I have seen.

Thought I would toss that out there in case ya'll hadn't seen in.
EDIT: Something I found about the creators.
"Sigil Games Online, Inc. is a game studio dedicated to the development of massively multiplayer games. Formed in January 2002 by Brad McQuaid and Jeff Butler, both key figures in the development of the massively multiplayer runaway hit EverQuest, Sigil Games plans to play a key role in taking MMOGs into their third generation and beyond.
Currently, Sigil has built a team of experienced developers and is well underway working on their first project, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, an MMORPG to be co-published by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE)."

yeah they pretty much screwed EQ, loved the hell outta that game til about luclin, after that it became not-so-fun. I was thinking about making a comment about that too but held back. I just hope the original EQ guys can get past SOE's BS.
SOE is
