Apparerently, after adjustments are factored in, the Gamecube has been the most affordable console at $224 2006 dollars. The NeoGeo was the most expensive at $993.65 in today's currency.
So my calcs say that the average price, in today's dollars, was 476.96 and the median was 393.31. This uses the high end figures for the 360 and PS3 since they are/ will be the most desired systems. The Wii will be a bargain, 360 is par, and the PS3 will be overpriced. I say wait a couple of months after release and the PS3 will be more affordable.
