Soo...Summer has come about and a friend and I have just picked up guild wars with employment and a common household I am pretty sure we will be playing this game a good bit over the summer. Any advice to the GW newbie in the begining? I hope to meet up with some of ya'll in there before too long. Also, my friend got factions and I was considering it but I think I should learn from the original before I get the sequal. Is it the same world?

Welcome,
Yes there is only one world. There will be a few of us online over the next while (summer). I think Jimbob, and Tucket picked it up just lately. Sammie, Mark and Zzala have been at it for a couple weeks.
Contact us for an invite to the GNG guild.
Just do a tell to Sckoarn Gnowere, or if some others post up thier toon names, you could contact them. And / Or if you post up your toon's name here one of us can contact you.
A really good way to contact us is to use Vent.

Nah you dont have to pay monthly but it is an MMO RPG which is a very nice change of pace from the ones you normally pay 15 per month.

Johnny... once you have hit about level 7, you are more than likely ok to "cross over"
however, all of the "newbie" quests in pre-searing have a ton of spells and skills you can pick up very easily, so it is your call.
Good move on the Warrior/Ranger... my only other suggestion would have been a Warrior/Monk... I have 3 characters
Warrior/Monk
Ranger/Elementalist
Monk/Mesmer
out of all of those, the Warrior monk is my favorite. Talk about kickin ass and takin names... Let me/us know if you need any items.. I am sure I have several swords/hammers/axe/bows laying around that you might enjoy using.
oh by the way, my Character names are:
Nebulaterous Opidi (Ranger)
Secksi Jane (Warrior)
Maria Opidi (Monk)
Alice Cooper

This game sounds fun. How much does it cost? And what are the different type of classes can you be?

there are two versions
the original....not sure how much it is going for now
and Factions $50
no monthly fee
most everyone is playing factions atm but the factions players can go back to the older version and play with people who dont have factions. However a non factions player can not go over to the new world to play with the other players....if that makes sense
professions
Monk
Warrior
Mesmer
Elementalist
Necromancer
Ranger
and factions has two other professions
Ritualist
Assassian

yeah basically, if you have the older version AND the newer game,or just the newer game, you can go back and forth between the new and old world, but if you have just the old version, you cannot travel to the old world.
think of factions (the newer version) as an upgrade.
hope this helps.
