Cool new stuff, Magnetic based RAM is finally available from Freescale. It's like Flash in that it doesn't need power to hold its contents, but its the speed of current RAM technologies.

From TFA:
The chips, called magnetoresistive random-access memory or MRAM, maintain information by relying on magnetic properties rather than an electrical charge. Unlike flash memory, which also can keep data without power, MRAM is fast to read and write bits, and doesn't degrade over time.

Well for one, since they're not volatile like current RAM, you wouldn't have to keep booting your machine. You could turn it off, then back on almost instantly because everything is still in RAM, so you could start right where you left off without waiting for the OS to boot up.
