My brother inlaw loaded this game up and is playing some. He is enjoying it when he gets a chance to play.

There is a 14 day free trial that can be uploaded, so I did. Only 551 M. I will be playing around with it over the next couple weeks.

Has anyone played it yet?

Any comments?

I'm playing this now. It's like an old MUD I used to play called TradeWars. Not exact but same concept. It's awesome and I'm enjoying it. Took me a while to understand and navigate menus and move around, attack but I'm getting it. I sold my starter POS ship and got a better one. So far I'm liking what I'm playing. Very very time consuming tho.

Cool,

Ok, I spent the week end playing this and got a feel for the depth. It is deep and could provide many hours of fun. I will post up my location and some details about how to get a toon started there. My son is playing too, and one of his buddies is checking it out.

Mostly I was mining, and found a way to make a decent amount of cash in less and less time. I have 3 ships, plus my starter ship, and 2 shuttles. Been to several 0.4 security locations and managed not to get attacked even. I have no idea what is going on with some of the player indicaters. Having ships is one thing but having good weapons and skills is another. You can be very specialized in the game, for many different kinds of activities.

First I bought a Bantom, extended the cargo, put on 2 mining lazor 1's, 2 sheild enhancers. This is my mining ship. Also got mining Bots, and fit one into this ship. The mining rate is much better than startup gear.

Then I bought a Condor, very fast friget. Two missil launchers, and a plasma gun. I used it for going places fast, shopping mostly. I used it for an NPC mission to kill a Drone, and it was very effective.

Then I saved up 1.3M credits, and bought a Destroyer. I got the ship but not enough cash to outfit the gun power :)

Got my eye on a Badger cargo ship next, but need to get a couple skills before I would be able to use it.

Ok, so my over all first impression is that the game is awesome. There does not seem to be a big demand on your connection as some other games. The skill set you have to choose from is huge, and would alow many "classes" of character to be created. The detail in the ship functions and armerments leads to an endless array of capablities. The graphis are very good with a scope as big as a galaxcy. The interface is very easy to use, once you have finished the tutorial. The tutorial took me 3+ hours to complete. The application itself seems very stable, even with my unstable windows OS.

I must say they game is really fun. JB and I have been playing it since Saturday evening and enjoying it. The tutorial was getting long so I quit once I understood how to move around, attack, etc.

I started just mining and bought the Bantom for the space and added the extended cargo, left everything else stock.

I mined until I had a good 150k of credits and did my first delivery. From then on out I have stuck with deliveries since the payout is much better. I got 2 or 3 missions in and bought a new ship something a little faster. Which was the Condor, what a big difference. Autopilot is probably the best thing in this game that I love, especially for deliveries.

The game runs really smooth on my machine and the graphics and views are wild. It seemed a bit laggy during the day yesterday, could have been my connection.

Another cool thing they have is the browser window so when I did cancel out my tutorial I clicked on that and it brought up their news and I used their player guide for quick references in game. I didn't try browsing other sites but I will. Perhaps I can browse these forums in game. I didn't see any reason why it wouldn't.

I haven't played as much as you have Sckoarn since you have 1.3m credits but I'm loving the game. Very enjoyable as well as the music is calm and relaxing. I have 2 ships, the Condor and Bantom and sitting on about 360k of credits.

Not sure where a lot of player and player interaction comes in but I did read we could meet up and preform mining teams. One would mine and the other deliver, vise versa and split the credits down the middle.

Although I must have strayed out of the 'noobie' areas when doing some deliveries. I forget what system I was in but on my way to the jumpgate there was 'traffic' and lots of it. A bunch of people jumping, etc. Really cool to see that many ships in one area and the different kinds, that were not NPCs.

Ok,
We got to try and get together, I have not done any delivery missions yet, that I know of, so I will have to check that out.

Soon as I get home I will post up the system I am in. Also if you would like to start a toon there I will post up the training I use to get where I am. I like the area that I started in.

So, I got the mining thing together and I think I was doing about 200k per hour in credits. Was much faster near the end as I figgered out a little trick. Yes a mining team would be great, was going to get that going with my son, but would really like to work with some GNG. I think we could make some big bucks for blowing on ships :). Once I get a Badger the mining team will work very nicely.

Awesome, just get on vent. I was on vent the whole weekend while I was playing.

I believe we have a match for CAL this evening so I'll be playing some CS as well. I do plan to play more of Eve.

I thought I read that the game's monthly fee is going to be $20. I hope I'm wrong because that is too much. Friend of mine stated maybe $12 to $15?

Also I chose the Caldari race. I think JB did as well. What did you choose?

Sckoarn
07-24-2006, 11:26 AM
I choose the Caldari as well, Im at the school of applied science, in a system called Tolied or something.

The cost that I saw was $19.95 per month. For me this is not too bad cause the CND dollor is closer to the US one. The $15 for EQ use to be like 25 CND for me. I will have no problem paying for this, just want something that will keep me entertained for more than 2 months.

I will get on vent for sure though.

Ok cool, we have to be close to each other. I'm in the system Amnen (sp?), well that is where my home is. I'm docked in system Sobkerki (sp?) in a some Warehouse for my deliveries, which about 2 or 3 jumps from Amnen.

My bantom is about 4 or 5 jumps from there. I think I'm going to buy shuttle to go grap it and fly it back to my homebase. Unless there is a way to tow a ship or pay to have it towed somewhere??

I think I may see a problem already with us meeting up for team mining. With trial accounts I don't believe we can transfer credits to one another. Hmmm.

I'm going to continue to play and if I still like it after my 2 weeks are up, I could give in to $20/mo.

Well JB and I met up last night and I helped him a little bit killing some droids off for a mission of his. It was pretty cool. They call it a 'gang'. Which is really cool, I didn't play with the leadership part so I resigned it to JB since it was his mission.

But it adds the 'gang members', including yourself, to the overview section (upper right hand corner). With that JB could be anywhere and all I had to do it right click his name and click 'warp to 15m' (for example) and it would take me to him. If he was docked it would take me within 15m from the station he was at. really neat.

I worked away at getting better at making cash by mining. There were limits because I was on a trial account. I registered an account, $15 US per month. If you think of it, I payed nothing to get the game, and can play for about 3 months before I will have payed for a boxed game out of the store.

There is lots to the game with great detail. Managed to mine enough to pay for all the stuff I bought to do the mining at my current level. I only spent 4 hours to get there. After a bit of mining it is always fun to go out and kill some NPC pirits / drones / ... The one thing that is abit dissapointing is that I lost track of the main story line, and do not know how to get back on it.

Undefined, What you playing now?

sylverarrow

I think my first character is going to be mining as well. I attempted a mission where I had to kill these pirates and I took on one and he was a royal pain.

I finally got missiles researched and will be able to use those this evening, I've had a missile launcher for over a day now just didn't have the skill for the ammo.

I went ahead and registered an account lastnight as well. It also stated it was only $15/mo. So I'm not sure what they have on their main page is about.

Sckoarn, what ship are you using to mine with?

Sckoarn
07-26-2006, 05:52 PM
Dont laugh,

I am using a destroyer, with 4 (miner I) hard points, and a co-processor so that there is enough CPU. Then once I have a corgo container full to one badger trip I load up, dock and get my badger out and go pick it up. Rate is about 400k per hour.

Myseree is running around looking for more rare material to mine. So far nothing really much better than the belts around the noob area.

Well I was doing some research and unfortunately there isn't much of a choice for ships at the beginning levels. So I'm still considering the Badger since it can hold so much but again it is limited since there is only one hardpoint for a turret. I'm thinking if we could meet up and preform a mining team for an hour or so and Sckoarn you bring your destroyer I could bring the Badger and from there we could just mine. With a full load on my Bantam (with a cargo extender) of Vespen Condensed without reprocessing I can sell for 14,000 credits. I can only imagine how much a full load with the Badger would output.

Since I got blown up last night, I will be wanting to recover some of that cash. Lost about 300k when some NPC pirits killed me. First ship lost for me :(

So I went and got myself another destroyer. This one is for fighting with. I need some skills and attachments to make this one able to fight better.

As for the mining, I will be doing it this eve. In system Todaki, our starting system. I would suggest you just bring your miner ship. Leave the transport to me or you can do it after you fill a cargo container. With that ship with 2 miner I's you will pull 200k per hour and will take 1 hour, 10 min to fill a badger sized load in the cargo container. One badger load of ore will return very close to 300k. I should have my mining level to 4 tonight and be able to pull 600k per hour from my destroyer, this includes the trip to pick up the ore. I hope the CPU required for miner II's is the same as my current ones, or I will have to look for a better co-processor.

Just in case you did not know, if you halt the training of a skill, you keep your progress, and will start up again when you start training that skill again.

Awesome, I'll bring my miner to you then, that will work. I just want to start making some money so I can start saving for a better ship that will suit my mining needs.

Yes, I did know that. It is pretty nice how you can do so because when I'm actually playing the game I will train things that don't take as long and as soon as I'm about to log off I'll switch to something that will take hours or even days so it will train while I'm in bed and/or at work.

You haven't had found any kind of banking system? Something that might gain interested, would be nice?

Yes Tucky, I managed to spot that one. Lets hope he is out soon, or didn't even have to go. I cant imagin why he has to go to jail, the offence wasn't even that big imo.

Anyway, did some group mining last night and was able to make some decent cash. One thing I was supprized by was Sylvers mining rate with a level I miner tool. Would like to know where your bonus's are coming from.

I'm really not sure where my bonus are coming from either, the turret I'm using for mining other then the basic one is called a 'EP-5 Gaussian Excavation Pulse' (something close to that). My mining skill is at level 2 and an hour from level 3. I also have Empathy at level 2 and Learning skill at level 1. My Caldari Frigate and Ship command skills are both level 3.

This evening I might find the place that sells that mining turret and purchase myself another one. I have level 1 drone control now and will be working on the Mining Drone skill this evening as well. Also this evening I'll have my Industrial Ship skill finished so I can get my badger so we can do some trade offs on transporting the ore.

When I was creating my character to did build him for more of mining than anything else. So did you and JB start in Taboki (sp?)? I started in a whole different place then that. I started a few jumps away in Asmen at the Caldari Institute of Science and Trade. I pretty sure that is it. I just haven't been back there in days. I did the Tutorial agents then I left.

Sckoarn
07-28-2006, 08:56 AM
I think from now on we will just work as a team toward a collective mass of mined stuff and then just split it at the end of the night or what ever. My mining rate is not much more than yours but it is more. I am sure your skill choices have affected your mining skills some how. It will not be long till you guys can out mine my destroyer, so with the difference in mining rates being reduced, full team mining would make sence. And lots less hastel. With both Sylver and Jimbob mining it was almost enough to keep my badger moving with cargo.

sylverarrow
07-28-2006, 09:53 AM
That is the goal for beginner team mining like us. We could have one person just pickup the cargo and transport it back as long as we can keep a steady supply for the person to keep transporting. Will make money quick and like you said with less hassle and the payout is alot better. Last night I think I made around 600k+. It defiantly beats mining by myself by a long shot. I think JB realized how great it was working together as well. It was a blast working together yesterday evening. I'll be on for sure this evening to do so as well.

I now have a destroyer, and a badger, and I'm ready to mine like hell. I spent up all the rest of my cash on skills though, so I'm not sure I'll be able to equip the destroyer just yet. I'm going to start now since I'm out of work for the day, and hopefully by this evening I'll have the destroyer fully outfitted for mining.

In order to fully outfit that Destroyer with mining I's you will need to get a co-processor. Or you can outfit with some of the special ones, use less CPU and have more output than regular ones.

I should be able to go longer tonight being a weekend eve :)

My son Myseree is Mr combat and is into it as well. Just need Nebula to get onboard. The Corp (Freedom of Choice) has a sister Corp as well, they have Vent and forums. I haven't been on much this week, haven't been feeling to well. Been busy at work and the last thing I want to do is look at another monitor. I got on last night for a bit and mined a few loads worth. My Cruiser level IV should be done late this evening. I took tomorrow off to have a 4 day weekend, since monday is labor day so I should be on later then usual this evening. JB should be arriving around midnight this evening . Although this weekend looks like it's going to be pretty shitty because of the storm coming. Perhaps a gaming weekend. We'll see.

Ok,

Im still a noob, and a few months away from Covert Ops, so you got time to get yourself together. In the mean time I am working on generating cash, and faction.

Cool stuff, I just finished a week vacation and I played most of that time. One of the Corp members created a smuggler, and some of the contraban are now doable. I was his first customer, the cash reward and faction are amazing. He is now setting up to do mass smuggling, as these missions are worth lots.

The Undefined
09-11-2006, 11:16 AM
The thing you should be aware of with faction, is that you can make it so that other races put a bounty on your head. The one dude i was flying with was shoot on sight in Caldari space. I quit doing missions for the government. Mining made better cash for the time spent. You don't the cool bonuses, but, you can go where ever you like with out the concord bugging you.
