I used to be pretty big into photography, but I didn't stick with it. I've been getting the itch lately, so I went out this morning and snapped some shots. I don't have a great camera for profesional looking pics, but I think some of them are worth sharing. You'ld think that a $500 (price when purchased) camera would do a little better. :doubt: It's a Kodak Easy Share DX4530 (5 megapixle). Unfortunately, it's all auto. With the lack of a manual focus and apurture, It's really hard to "say what I want" with the images.

those are still awesome man.
I dont know if you are in to this, but what you cant do with the camera, you can always go back and do with photoshop. The camera you are using is taking great pictures. You definitely have the "artist eye" Nice work.

Good picts man, you can certainly see that it's auto though. The sky is hot in almost everyshot and the spider picture is soft. That's the camera though. You've the knack still, good composition and eye for color. Now if you could get photos of work you've done again, that would be cool. I'm not sure if there are legal limitations about that.

If I'm reading that correctly: I've never had anything published. I do have all the pics that I've taken in the past, although no model releases for the pics. My hottest shoot was a couple topless hotties on a '59 Harley. We were going to send to Easy Rider. The models decided after the shoot they didn't want their boobs shown all over the world. Back then, I was into live models more so than nature. I did get paid for one shoot, but never sent the pictures. It was a hair show in Biloxy with hot models from all over getting their hair done on stage. It was to showcase product lines. Each company had their own shows during the weekend. The one we were with was Bain De Ter. I'll have to get over to the in-laws and dig those out and scan them for you all.
In all actuallity, the camera I have now does have settings for light, and exposure but it's such a pain in the ass to go through the menu to adjust them.

LOL
I actually meant your tiling work you do on houses. So you could show us some of the stuff you were talking about in the other thread. heh. I'm sure the others wouldn't mind seeing the pictures though.

He has posted some of his work Thunder. But yeah man, keep us up to date with your current projects. Before, during, and after pics would be neat. I didn't have a camera when my dad and I were building his house, that would hav been awesome. But I did have a camera when we were building his deck. Just neat to have pics from nothing to actually having something really nice that you did.

I'm wondering if the sky issue has anything to do with the early morning hours. Meaning that not all the haze had burned off. Cuz, look at these I took of some storm clouds moving in, the sky doesn't look as washed out as it does in the others.

Thanks everyone.
I decided that, since most of the pictures I take are stills, why the hell not mess around with the camera settings that I do have, like exposure compensation. After messing around with this setting, I found that it's alot like an aperture. I also found there's a setting on there called "long time exposure" which basically acts as the shutter speed. Haven't messed with that much. I don't have steady enough hands for that one.
Anyway, I took a series of shots of clouds, and a storm. The first set was taken first thing this morning, as I walked out my front door, in a clearing directly across from my apt., there was, what I found to be, an interesting cloud formation. The second series was a storm coming in from the N.W. while at the beach this afternoon. I don't know what it is about storms and clouds that I like, but I like them. I guess because they're so much bigger than we are. Clouds that reach miles and miles into the sky. I find it overwhelming.

I love how the afternoon thunderstorms are in Florida. I remember Sput and I were walking to the Circle K one evening. All of a sudden it was pouring. We took a step back, not a single drop. Step forward. Pouring. You could be half in and half out of the rain. You can see the rain line on the later pictures.
Graet pics man...as many say its not the camera that makes the photos its the person behind it. My Nikon D50 pulls of some great shots...but I still need practice to bring it all out.
Im going to see some family this weekend and will be in a great area to take shots so im hoping to come back with some good ones next week

now that I'm learning that I have more than just a point and shoot, I'll be taking alot more. Even though it's not a super great camera, it's still more than what I thought it was.
I still haven't found my pics of the past, which is really saddening. There's pics in there from my teenage years all the way up until I met my wife.

great pics
we have had some serious storms in SC in the last week or so. I assume you guys have as well.
for a steady hand, get a tripod. you definately need one for extended exposures.
And the higher your pixels, the more movement you are going to see.
