so i know next to nothing when it comes to techs of playing CS. i just shoot and kill and die and stranglebate between rounds. So when it comes to frame rates, higher lower , whats good? how should my max frames be set? any other tweeks like this would be beneficial im sure, and i know how to do them now thanks to the forums and the tips and help thread, but i dont know what half the shit means.

The higher the frame rate the better. There is a post about commands for CS in the CS forum stickied at the top. CS Source has a standard lock at 300 FPS unlike old CS which is 100 FPS. The naked eye cant see more than 70 fps, but the more the better.

Use the net_graph 3 command to display what your real frame rate is. Set your max fps to whatever your average frame rate is. This helps prevent frame rate from spiking then droping below average..

I beg to differ on that statement of the human eye only being able to see 70fps :P But its not really that important. Anywho, the higher the framerate usually means that you are getting less lag, and less lag means that you can get the first shot off the dude peaking his head around the corner, so intern the higher the better.
