What do you guys think we're going to need for hardware to play the next generation of games that are coming out?
I've got a 256mb 7600gt and i'm planing on upgrading my processor from my crappy 3200+Sempron to a A64 x2 4400+.
Do you think the 4400 will get me by for another year or am i wasting my money?

I sure hope the 4400+ will work.
I have a 4800+ myself, and am very happy with it.

I'm thinking about this too, seeing frame loss with a Geforce FX 5950 Ultra 256 and a 1.8 Pentium 4. I don't know whether to just save up for another computer or replace the processor/video card in this one because I guess they are way outdated at the present.

I must also add:
as much as I love my dual core processor.. it actually might not the best for gaming purposes. If what you are going for is a pure gaming machine, get a single processor that has a high Mhz level and a decent cache size... it will out-perform a DC processor when it comes to gaming.
However, if you are like me who likes to run winamp/ventrillo/ and other applications in the background while pwning face on say... BF2.. maybe a dual core processor is what you need.

uhm the AMD FX processors are getting a lot cheaper and they are single core with lots of power for gaming needs. look into an FX52 or something along the lower of the FX series.
