Ars has a news article on John Carmack's space company (Armadillo Aerospace) and their failed rocket launch.

It seems that every self-made millionaire/ billionaire is starting up their own rocket/ space company now. That's a good thing. It really seems like this is building critical mass.

Wow, that is something new to me. I never knew he had a space comany. He co-found Id Software and made Quake, he's the man! Quake FTW!

Daikatana was a project headed by one of the other early members of Id, John Romero. He also had a hand in the now 10 year old project Duke Nukem Forever.
