interesting section on the bottom of that article.

politicians from all stripes feel he managed this conflict poorly...

I must have fallen asleep during my Government class when they discussed that when you become a politician that you suddenly understand all aspects of military occupation in a country that doesnt want you, and you know how to keep casualties to a minimum.

I am tired of seeing people just jump on the "You made a mistake, lets play
Monday morning QB" Bandwagon.

When the Terrorists attacked the WTC's, everyone was super gung ho about killing off the Radical Jihadists. Then as soon as they realize American soldiers arent invincible, they call for Rumsfield's head.

When I hear a politician or distraught mom tell me how to defend against IED's and carbomb's, I will vote them for Secretary of Defense in a heartbeat. But until then, they should follow this quote:

If you dont like the way something is being done, then tell someone a better way to do it, instead of just complaining and doing nothing.

Bullshit man... we didn't get Bin Laden and there were no WMD. We had no cause or reason to invade Iraq. He lied... they did a horrible job and are still doing nothing to really fight terrorism. The Bush admin has ruined our world reputation and basically installed a tremendous training ground for terrorist in Iraq. Your loyalty has blinded you. Get a fucking grip!

Funny thing is we (my shop) taped three holiday messages with him on Tuesday morning. I'm pretty sure he won't officially step down until after Jan 1st unless it takes longer for the new guy to get confirmed.

As far as the SECDEF as a person. I'd work with the guy any day of the week. If Pres Bush is the a bad speaker Rumsfeld is his exact opposite. We NEVER had to have do more than one take with him, even when he had a sore throat and a cold.

As far as his work as SECDEF, I really think that he was shackled by politics more than anything. He does know what he's doing contrary to what democrats, most news agencies and 75% of ignorant america think. How many 74 year olds do you know that can run the most powerful military in the world, take mountains of criticism and still find the time to meet with the lowest tier of troops? Could he of done a better job? Sure, but so can everyone.

My loyalty may be overzealous at times, but I am going to sit back and see how well these "Wonderful, Save the World, now that we are in Congress" Democrats do.

It seems to me that they are viewing this as a game instead of the impact on American lives they will cause by their actions. They are excited they took the House and probably Senate, but with power comes great responsiblity, and it seems they have forgotten their decisions will decide whether a soldier comes back to his family in a box or not.

They have been telling the world everything the Republican party has done wrong, lets see if the Democrat's can resolve this Iraq situation any better.

Wrong thread, but it fits i guess:confused:

Any bill the Democrats propose will just get vetoed by the president and sent back to the House where it will then need a 2/3s majority to pass. The Democrats have more control then they did through leadership in the committees but they are still pretty limited in what they can do. I wouldn't expect miracles.

Bad,

U seem to think I have some anti-republican agenda. I don't. I am a registered independent. If a Dem pres would have governed this war, I would be calling for his head with equal fervor.

I have one problem with this admin and its not ploitical affiliation. It's that our boys are over there dying to liberate a cowardice people, while those who were responsible for 9/11 have not yet been punished.
