Many people don't care because it won't happen in their lifetime or because it's too expensive / time consuming to matter....I agree with you and I wish more was done.
Maybe if more people just did a little to help it would be different.

lol I didnt realize the content of the videos but I think it's an important issue for us to address in any case.

I do agree though laroach, a lot of those music videos are a bunch of BS and political statements and many make me sick to watch but honestly it gets attention from people in a large medium...shit I want my future kids to grow up with something rather than a pile of dirt.

Papa...really don't worry about these kind of things til you get older, innocence is bliss.

Yes I have a problem with those that are famous for something all of a sudden being a supporter of some cause. Like when one of the Beatles came to Canada to diss the seal hunt. Like it is any of his bussness, he should just consentrate on being the rock star he once was.

And another U2's Bono telling the Prime Minister of Canada we are not giving enough to the rest of the poor in the world. Like singer dude should be able to tell a government what to do?? That is just rediculus.

Soon as Man kind figgures out how to stop Volcanos from erupting, we could then turn to our own waste gasses.

So, while all these super stars are out criticizing our own country for the lack of environmental action; China, at its rate of growth, will consume the lead of greenhouse gas emitting countires by the year 2030. At it's rate of growth they are quickly catching up to us.

China is now building on average a coal-fired power plant every week and plans to continue doing so for years.

While China is working hard towards destroying our environment, we in the United States (among other countries) are working hard on developing more environmental friendly industries as well as environmentally friendly consumer products such as alternative fuel vehicles, cleaner energy plants, and an overall awareness of the need to recycle and live our lives much more conservatively than before environmentalism became "popular".

Despite its refusal to submit the protocol to Congress for ratification, the Bush Administration has taken some actions towards mitigation of climate change. In June 2002, the American Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the "Climate Action Report 2002". Some observers have interpreted this report as being supportive of the protocol, although the report itself does not explicitly endorse the protocol.[citation needed] At the G-8 meeting in June 2005 administration officials expressed a desire for "practical commitments industrialized countries can meet without damaging their economies". According to those same officials, the United States is on track to fulfill its pledge to reduce its carbon intensity 18% by 2012.[50] The United States has signed the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, a pact that allows those countries to set their goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions individually, but with no enforcement mechanism. Supporters of the pact see it as complementing the Kyoto Protocol while being more flexible, but critics have said the pact will be ineffective without any enforcement measures

Through the Kyoto Protocol, the UN is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the world while maintaining a working global economy.
Although the United States and China have not signed the Kyoto Protocol, the United States has adopted many similar emission reduction standards that can be likened to the Kyoto Protocol while China simply claims it should be exempt because:

The People's Republic of China insists that the gas emissions level of any given country is a multiplication of its per capita emission and its population. China endorses this because of the advantage it would get within the new restrictions. Because China has emplaced population control measures while maintaining low emissions per capita, it claims it should therefore in both the above aspects be considered a contributor to the world environment.

What this means is that, the amount of emissions is divided among the entire population. However, at their current rate of growth, this ideal is simply not feasible. Just look at China's auto industry and the amount of vehicles on the road in China and you'll understand why this is a crock of poo.

Government statistics show that China produced a record four million autos in 2003, when the number of private cars grew by 80 percent thanks to the country's strong economic advance and growing middle class. source (http://www.busrep.co.za/index.php?fSectionId=565&fSetId=304&fArticleId=2211763)

It would be economically detrimental to the entire world to emplace drastic emissions reductions policies implied by radical environmentalists. There are policies, however, in place that will reduce emissions while maintaining a solid economy.

These spoiled brat ass-hat superstars that want something done "NOW" do not realize this because they are just that, spoiled brats. They have practically unlimited funds and when they want something, they usually get it right then and there. The truth is, instead of focusing on big business that is working with world governments to effectively reduce their emissions, they should focus on a more personal campaign. The individuals, me, you, your neighbors...the redneck that just threw his beer can out the truck window.

Unfortunately, superstars can't do that. Why? Because if they start attacking me and you, they'll lose fans. So, they focus on the "popular" issues that will get them the attention and broaden the fan base, thus increasing their profit.

Very well put.

I also love how the the Kyoto Protocol comes from those that do not even produce oil and gas. They have no idea the cost and effects of producing it, yet drive the Hummer to and from work.

Canada, Alberta specially, gets the bad rap for it's immisions. Fact is that if you produce you have to emmit some for safty. There are thousands of flare stacks that burn 24/7 for that case when they have to vent material when things break down. Facts are that rotting plants produce more carbondioxide than man will ever produce.

I for one look forward to see what really happens.
