OTTAWA (AFP) - A former Canadian defense minister is demanding governments worldwide disclose and use secret alien technologies obtained in alleged UFO crashes to stem climate change, a local paper said Wednesday.
"I would like to see what (alien) technology there might be that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within a generation ... that could be a way to save our planet," Paul Hellyer, 83, told the Ottawa Citizen.
Alien spacecrafts would have traveled vast distances to reach Earth, and so must be equipped with advanced propulsion systems or used exceptional fuels, he told the newspaper.
Such alien technologies could offer humanity alternatives to fossil fuels, he said, pointing to the enigmatic 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico -- which has become a shrine for UFO believers -- as an example of alien contact.
"We need to persuade governments to come clean on what they know. Some of us suspect they know quite a lot, and it might be enough to save our planet if applied quickly enough," he said.
Hellyer became defense minister in former prime minister Lester Pearson's cabinet in 1963, and oversaw the controversial integration and unification of Canada's army, air force and navy into the Canadian Forces.
He shocked Canadians in September 2005 by announcing he once saw a UFO.

It's too bad all he has for "proof" is that he "once saw a UFO". It would have been sweet if he came out with some documents and pitcures and shit, like hey, check this out Canada HAS aliens HERE's prrof BAM! Step it up a notch!

He's assuming that the alien society wasn't inflicted with the same irrational luddites that we are and that they didn't have significant segments of the population working against the betterment of the species' condition.

1970: Malthusian nightmares. The population will be out of hand in 20 years, we won't be able to feed the earth's population!! (Nevermind the fact that all famines in the 20th century were caused by war/political failure or occured in socialist moronacries - NOT undersupply despite the population doubling.)
1970: The widespread consensus is that the earth will freeze as a result of climate change!! Global cooling is upon us if we don't change!!! In the 70;'s scientists were even proposing releasing mass amounts of greenhouse gases to counteract this dreaded event.
1980s: automation will create widespread unemployment and ozone holes meant we'd all be walking around in lead suits by now
2000: The general consensus among scientists is that global warming is upon us.

What a bunch of screwups. Believing in modern science requires more faith than believing in Santa Clause. It's all agenda driven.

One forum called them disasturbationists
I hate hazy and smoggy skies because they ruin my pictures (although they do make nice sunsets), but come on.

Besides: What if the alien propulsion system opens up a wormhole within the eath's gravitational field? How'd he like it if it just sucked in a llarge chuck of the atmosphere?
