New GameS?

I was doing some research about some other fun online games that I could get into because I dont want to migrate back to WoW and I've played CS since I was little. I was looking at screenies of 2142 and Eve, they both look great but Im not really sure what each is about or like. Eve looks like you get a spaceship and fly around and shoot other spaceships, where 2142 kind of looks like Mechwarriors+CS:S and a lot more.

Anyone wana share on this topic? I'd appreciate it on my next visit to BestBuy

i just started playing eve like 2 weeks ago
its a very deep game in the sense of learning hundred of different skills and following a path in terms of your chracters profession (mine being combat) but you can choose other paths to focus on.
YOu can be a loner or join a corporation, which we have one set up to join if you decide to play.

Learning skills takes minutes, hours, or days, or weeks for one set to learn, but it does this while you are offline or online, so long as you chose a skill to learn while you are offline or playing. For example, if you wana be able to shoot cruise missiles, you have to learn all the necesarry skills to be able to use them, then have a ship that can shoot them, and so on.

you can hunt, steal, pillage, or mine and transport goods, do various missions etc etc etc etc etc


so far I like it. I have never been able to get into this style of gaming; however i have been enjoying this game a lot.




2142 is fun too, i played it when the realeased the trial. I played BF2 for a bit and liked that. I chose to pursue Eve because it is something different than a fighting game. There is a LOT to learn in it.

Ya I took a look at some of the database. I dont know if I want something as complex as that. I'm trying to learn my Trigonomotry and writing excel formula's. That is a lot to learn too so I dont feel like I have the time I need to really dedicate myself to Eve. Sounds a lot of fun though. Is BF2042 newer or older then BF2?

Eve is pretty cool, it just gets boring as crap./ You need a decent guild if you want to do anything in low spec space. I just started a Mining skill I need, and training it to 5 is taking me 20 days. Real world days.. In 20 days it will be done. NOTHING I can do right now will make it train faster..I can stop it and make the attributes attached to it higher, but all mine take 5+ days. The time I will make up wont be worth the time spent.
Its fun, and can be very addicting, but it can also piss you off..

I played 2142 all spring break man, well when I could. The game Fuckin' ROCKS. Very addictive, replay value is very good because each class is a different experience and has it's diff uses...

For example: I think the most fun I have had as an engineer is ambushing APCs as they go by me filled with troops and shooting them in the weak armor in their rear blowin' them all to hell muahaha. It's good fun.

Like so much else in life, the best thing to do is really experience them for yourself. Both have demos/free trials available, so you should use them before making a decision. You will find GNG members playing both.

Eve Online is by no means new. It is at least 4 years old.

I am enjoying the detail and depth of the game. The fact that I NEVER cast a spell, is a nice break from past MMORPG's.

I have always wanted a space game, and it seems Eve has all the little things I had been looking for.

Just last night Bizz was out getting himself blown up. And by his side was Vin, going LD and then getting poped. Nice when you got a Corp that gives you ships to go and get dead in, Eh?

Anyone ever play Ultima Online? I played that shit for like 5 years! Lol, I thought it was one of the best PvP games ever. The oldschool 2D Graphics fucking roxx0red my b0xx0rs at the time because it was ghetto and I loved it. But now-a-days I gotta have beautiful blood splatter across the wall like art class. Anyways, gotta go, working with spreadsheets M-F 9-5 :-)

I believe I am going to get into that too, I remember C&C and it was fun as fuck, only compared to Starcraft at the time, I wasnt very interested.

C&C3 demo is out, I think it's on fileplanet or somethin'. GO check it out.

I thought it was alright, it goes back to oldschool C&C roots which is cool.

I dunno though, I might get it but at the same time I was sucking at it pretty bad when I played and that discouraged me hahaha.

During the Ultima Online time frame, Ever Quest came out and I played that for 5+ years on both blue and PvP servers. In fact the EQ guild(s) started by GNG made this place very active during that time.

I played it in the free trial, and it was good, some of the maps we played last night were really cool.

ANyways, you can DOWNLOAD the FULL game from ea.games for 39.99 (no tax) takes about 30 mins on my connection, worked perfectly, u wil need patch 1.20 though, incase you do it.

I plan on BF2ing some while my Eve characters skills get to the high levels, which is what takes so long.

Ya I have the demo for C&C, I keep playing it.....nonstop. I have played every game in the C&C line that was actually a strategy game and loved them so I cant wait.

Indeed...half the servers have the expansion now so it's a pain to find one that doesnt every once in a while.

BTW..I played last night on the school connection with no lag but today I tried and the same issues of high latency (I believe due to blocked ports) occured. I'll try to get it resolved...I fuckin' loved playing at home over break.

Yeah man...if you get on with the right squad, you can make serious points. I think I ranked twice in two maps because we were kicking so much ass. If I could only get my roommates to get on Vent...although, you really don't need that much actual voice comm. as long as you have people that know what they're doing.

So yeah...get that shit fixed!

Quick question about the BF Sig.. I registered and got to the Pid generator and nickname search but I put in my player id and then soldier name for nick name and it comes up with nothin. Sooo it doesnt create a sig for me. Any ideas?

Try using just your pid. I don't think the nick field works, so if you try to combine them, it'll screw it up.

*Edit...looks like the stats are down. My old sig isn't even showing up.

EA are updating there site today with the Northen Strike info as well as a few updates like the number of medals won.
