Yeah, I've never really played one. I doubt I'll get into it, but I'll give it a chance. I tooled around with Guild Wars last night for about an hour, and it didn't really catch my interest. I'm not done with it yet though. I'll give it more of a chance...

If you going to fully eval GW, you have to play some PvP. In the begining this is were the game shined.

I think a big thing with the MMORPGs is that you need friends to play with. Otherwise, yes, it is just endless grinding and very boring. I just got back into WoW a bit because I have real life long distance friends who play and it's fun.

As far as gaming with people on GNG. It's almost impossible to get everyone on the same server. Either someone gets a game and doesn't tell anyone or other people get it without reading what's been posted so people end up scattered all over the different servers. With reason, no one is willing to change, so we all end up playing the same game but unable to play together.

I am on Durotan on WoW. I usually play later at night after 10pm CST or so for at least a few hours and most of the time on weekends. All of my characters are lowbies with my highest being 17.

I hear ya man. I personally will be playing LOTRO. I already have a few low level chars on a few servers. I will totally play with whoever wants gets this game. I usually play weekend days, and nights when I'm not in classes.

MF and I managed to get a few hours playing together. MF worked on one toon, I put two together. I wanted to try a few things out. MF had a Leet quest to do, and with some luck and determination we completed it both for him and I.

It was fun. I am seriously considering subscribing. It would be great to get together with a bunch of GNG .... at the start of one of these games, like we have the oppertunity to do now. Just have to pick a server to all play on. I vote Windfola!!

Tech wise, I was impressed with the stability. Only rarely did I XP lag of any kind. Only encountered one bug while playing.

In order to get the 9.99/month rate, you have to pre-order. If you do not pre-order, it will be 14.99/month. Or, you can pay the $199 for life time. If you pre-order, you get a nice robe/cape, and a ring (for your char, not something you yourself can wear), plus your char from the open beta will tranfer.
If you don't pre-pay, everything you worked on up until the major release, will be useless.

Me and a few friends are playing on Nimola or whatever that server name is.. As Animal said, we picked that server without reading this thread. So far game seems kinda cool. I just dont know what kind of long term appeal it can have. I like WoW but its impossible to do anything unless your in a raid, and I dont have 5 nights a week at the same time to play due to having a job and kids. Vanguard was great IMHO but I detest the crafting system, and with the quests giving mostly money not gear it got annoying.
Eve was fun, but in the long run I got bored of basically playing a single player MMoRPG. The idea is to play with your friends. Not play while your friends are playing. On WoW I am on Baelgun, but rarely log in. Havent even got to 61 yet, and I have had BC since it came out. I am trying the City of Heroes free trial. Seems fun, but I know I will get bored with it, just like I feel I will get bored with LOTR.
The only games (MMoRPG) that kept me interested after any amount of time (and I tired almost every one) was EQ and WOW> I still love EQ, if they made the raid groupable instead of Raid content I would go back and play that shitty game.

I've been considering giving LOTR a try but I'm still faily tied up on WoW. If I do sign up i'll run the same server as Sckoarn etc. Will keep you updated if I do sign up.
