No big surprise there, but it's soon to be official.

This is a translation of a Korean news article. Apparently the big announcement will take place at Blizzard's World Wide Invitational.

It has been confirmed that StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D, a new race has been added and existing units' characteristics will have many changes. Additional details will only be revealed to certain parts of WWI.

However, trustworthy information is being leaked from previous Blizzard employees, and through an acquaintance of ex-Blizzard North employees, StarCraft 2's development and its announcement at the WWI has been confirmed.

MBC Game's Lee Sang-Ho head said "Frankly, it's half anticipation and half worry. If SC2 is released in a form that is compatible with e-sports broadcast, there will be many new gamers and the entire industry will develop. However if it comes out in a form that is not easy to broadcast, like WarCraft 3, StarCraft fans will focus on the sequel while the original league will suffer a decline", expressing a cautious mindset.

OnGameNet's StarCraft commentator Um Jae-Kyung said "Blizzard has probably already grasped the difference between this nation's gamers and foreign gamers' difference in inclination through WarCraft 3. So I'm hoping for a more balanced structure, a structure with e-sports in mind. However, I believe that the e-sports league will continue to focus on StarCraft and a new league focusing on StarCraft 2 will form, the industry growing bigger as a result. As a gamer, I'm really looking forward to it.

That will be sweet. I thought WC3 was OK, but I didn't get near as much fun out of it as WC2 or the original SC. I hope they can make a new challenging game, but not ruin it. Just today I was thinking of reinstalling WC 2, SC, or one of the Baldur's Gate games.

Agreed. I WC2 and SC were the best. I didn't care much for WC3.

Install SC, it pwns WC2. =)

I would think PC only. Whenever a strat game is transferred to console it ends up sucking...

I hope the battlefield is multi-dimensional too. Armies of Exigo did this where you could battle underground in caverns and things as well as on the surface. It had underground access points on its maps but it even had units that could walk around underground then dig out of the ground anywhere they wanted, in a base, etc. It added a lot to strategy because you had two fields of play to worry about, but the races were such carbon copies of Starcraft/Warcraft that the game didn't get much attention.

If Starcraft had a map with two maps built around it, it would be great. The maps would be synchronized with the main surface map, but one would take you underground and the other would take you up to space. That would be awesome and not terribly hard to do either, I would think.

Yo Mr Witched King! Where the hell have you been playing since you left us on GW.

And do tell me more about this Armies of Exigo game, sounds interesting

Haha, fooooooooo. GW was great.

I haven't been playing much of anything lately. I keep buying these games and not playing them. It's weird, like just buying them is satisfying some inner need. Are you playing 2142 with everybody else? I will totally pick that up if so.

Armies of Exigo is pretty old now and probably has no multiplayer community to speak of. I only played the demo when that first got released and was only impressed with the layered battlefields. The races really were just carbon copies of Starcraft and Warcraft from what I remember. If I saw it in a bargain bin I would definitely pick it up but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The cinematic scenes were really impressive and on par with Warcraft 3.

Negative Sir, I am currently without internet for a little while due to my idiotic decision to move into the boondocks. I only get on here from work.
And my rig wont support even the normal BF some reason, I think my RAM is too low.

I am curious how long this BF 2142 streak will last. It just seems that it was BF for 4 months, then BF 1945? for 3 months, now this one.

Hopefully I will move soon and I am unfortunately probably setting my sights on WoW when I get internet back.

Dont worry, my people will get ahold of your people:cool:
