An interesting part of Lord of the Rings online, the monster play mode. I spent some time last night playing this mode. I picked a spider to play, and started out in the brand new world. Untouched by player characters, this little land only contains NPC's of each of the player races. I am not sure but to get to the area as a character, you have to be level 30+.
Monsters start out at level 50 and there are all sorts of quests for you to complete to inprove your monster, one way or another, through destiny points. You can use your destiny points to purchase new skills and other stuff.
In the two hours of monster play I was able to tour what seems to be the PvP area for the map. Not sure if, as a monster, I can leave this area, but it will be fun checking that out. Also, while wondering, of course, I killed lots of elf, hobbit and human NPC. Oh what fun, with hobbit legs and feet droping off here and there.

Definitly a different twist to game play, I can hardly wait till player characters are level enough to make it to this area.

Monster play, once Players are at level 50 to play against, is going to be tons of fun.

I think the monster play will be very fun as well. I am working my Monster in my spare time, and when Im tired of running around in Human land. There is lots to do there, but it will be harder to do once players are able to make it to the area. So far most all the cities in the area have been taken by the monsters, except one. Regardless there are little camps here and there of Elf, Hobbit, Human and Dwarf to hunt. Mostly returning body parts for food. Also it appears that all drops from NPC's are quest items. The amount of silver droped seems good, but there is not much you can spend it on.

Lawls, you return body parts from hobbits and humans for food!?

I cant wait till the news media starts warning parents that LOTR will cause young children to become cannibals

Monster mode continues. I got my pre-order delivered after having one day of down time. Why would you discontinue something on a Sunday? Just seems like someone was not thinking when they picked the Beta end date.

Got in some Monster play, and am finding that now there are more players in the zone, or I really dont spend much time there. Managed to find some areas that I have not explored yet. The zone, thought small on your map, is pritty big. Lots of little places and camps of NPC's of all kinds. Found a camp of humans and got my first "leg of man" from then. Nearly everything that drops from NPC's are for a quest or quests of some kind.

Seems there are at least 4 different moster factions. One for each of the major races.
