I've been seeing all kinds of reviews on new, very user-friendly storage devices.
The 2 most able so far have been the Drobo

and
Windows Home Server, which I spoke about before, still in beta.
Both of these use new systems for storing and protection rather than RAID, allowing ad hoc drive installations. This means you just grab whatever drives you can get without worrying about them being the same size/ speed. Both are very user-friendly, both are very painless. I know it's easy to set up a home file server with every feature exactly as we'd like, but these new NAS devices are bringing it down to literally plug in play. The Drobo is red light/ green light it's so easy.
