EA to Purchase BioWare and Pandemic

Reuters is reporting (http://www.reuters.com/article/companyNewsAndPR/idUSWEN162920071011)that Electronic Arts will purchase BioWare and Pandemic for $800 million. BioWare makes Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and other top-notch RPGs. Pandemic makes games such as Full Spectrum Warrior, Mercenaries, and Star Wars Battlefront. Both studios have a combined 10 games in the works, 8 of which they own. BioWare's next big effort is Mass Effect for Microsoft and Pandemic was working on Mercenaries 2 and Saboteur.

I was surprised at this deal, believing that MS would purchase BioWare with their record of working together on great games.

Worst news I've heard all day. I really truly hate EA and their business model. I have heard they have a new CEO though and he's trying to turn their image around, but how much of that is sincere and how much is just bullshit PR I don't know. I read a transcript of Bioware and Pandemic developers talking about the acquisition and they gave such crap excuses for why they did it. I expected some spin but not near as much as they were laying on. Fuckin cock suckers!
