Wired News has an excellent story (http://www.wired.com/cars/coolwheels/magazine/15-11/ff_cannonballrun?currentPage=1)about the crew who finally broke the 23 year old Cannonball record of 32:07 hh:mm. Great reading. They had to beat an average of 90mph for the duration of the trip from NY to LA, winning with 90.1 mph average and 31:04 hh:mm. The story's publication was delayed from last October since many statutes of limitations had to expire.
The pictorials are also worth the read. In one, Will Wright of Sims fame raced in the Cannonball successor in 1980 and made it in an amazing 33:56, - even after getting stopped by the cops.
