Ed Mueller has been (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/86585) the CEO of Qwest for over four months now and people are starting to get antsy for news about what changes are in the works for the company. We know that Qwest is planning to offer (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/88955) 20Mbps FTTN to its customers and that IPTV may or may not (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/89487) be in Qwest s future. Other than that, the company hasn t said much and The Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_7545089) reports that that s because there isn t much to say.

They say that Mueller may be having trouble figuring out exactly what to do to make Qwest work. It was widely viewed that Notebaert, during his five-year tenure, tried to dress Qwest up for a sale, or as one analyst put it, "put lipstick on a pig." Without any buyers, Mueller's job is to take the lipstick off and get the pig to perform.
Although Mueller is expected to announce his future plans by the end of the year, it s anticipated that he won t have exciting news on most fronts. Qwest may or may not make acquisitions but won t be moving into the mobile phone market. The company may eventually partner with other companies to increase video speeds (or it may not). The official announcement is expected from Mueller within the next month.
