Users in our Embarq Forum (http://www.thegng.org/forum/r19492379-Embarq-offering-naked-DSL-as-a-retention-offer) say that the company is now offering "naked" DSL (DSL without mandatory local phone service) to users. The catch? They're only offering it as a retention tool to customers who threaten to cancel service. "In order to get my $44.95 HSI service I have to pay $22.17/mo for a "$9" phone line I don't use," complains one of our users who should now be able to shed $22 if he threatens to cancel. We've got calls in to Embarq to see if this offer is market wide, or only in select areas.
