Governor Schwarzenegger is expected (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976590.html?categoryid=1009&cs=1) to present a plan next month for increased development of a digital infrastructure throughout the state of California. Citing information compiled by a broadband task force, the governor says that the state needs to double its current infrastructure to support broadband for the entire state population. Improved technology will create a demand from consumers for more content and give distributors more opportunities to generate revenue from putting programming on the Web.
The governor also quoted statistics from a recent AT&T-backed study (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/89544) which point to the number of jobs that can be created in the state through broadband development.
