Last week Linksys made headlines (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/Linksys-Directs-Users-To-Phone-Sex-Line-89808) when one of their product manuals accidentally directed users to a phone sex line. We've been chatting with Cisco's Karen Sohl about the incident, and according to Sohl, it was a mistake by Linksys, and not the fault of Circuit City:Circuit City should not be blamed for this incident. Linksys unintentionally failed to change the contact information on the materials in the box of the WRH54G when the units were shipped to the US for the special Black Friday sale. It not our retail partners fault for the Linksys error. Linksys is currently finding a solution to this issue and apologize for any inconvenience or embarrassment this has caused to our customers. In the meantime we are instructing customers who require support on this product to call the correct number at: (800) 326-7114.
The Indian number, when called from the U.S. without the proper prefix, directed users to the adult chat line. Sohl told us this morning that Cisco/Linksys has since acquired the line, and callers now hear a recorded Linksys message -- which may annoy those who were looking for high-speed action of another variety.
