http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/208.167.249.87:27015/
Anyways, since I changed my name to [GNG-r]GL84 will I have to start from Zero on the server listing? or will it know its the same person?

nice work man :)
if its anything like counter-strike you will keep the same ranking for it should be based off of your steam ID... not necessarily your name. I'm not 100% sure with the TF2 stats tho...

Here's one that will burst your bubble. We also have Psychostats (http://stats.thegng.org/) which are a more accurate representation of skill as it doesn't go by points alone. GL84 is ranked 820.

It knows, and will display the name you've logged into the server most with. So you will see just GL84 for a while.
Just in case your wondering it tracks by steamID, which is unique to every player and does not change.

psychostats is based on some retarded shit...
the top 100 are random nobodys that played for a round or 2...

Yea, I never understood how psychostats calculates it's supposed "skill level". It seems to put a heavy emphasis on kills/deaths ratio but I don't think that an accurate representation for a more team based games like TF2. For CS that works fine because it's not a team game. Do we pay for pyschostats?

you're absolutely right...
i could give a crap about k:d ratios in tf2....
cs was different cuz one person COULD carry a team alone with their hax...
tf2 is team based... i usually go engi or spy... being a spy i always die...
lol, Kill Death Ratios mean nothing in TF2 for skill...
If you can't sacrafice yourself for your team ie. Dustbowl section two - going out of the gates to sac for the ubers behind you, or do a sac run to determin enemy locations...
heck, even knowing when to switch classes (even to classes that die more) is a part of the skills to dominate TF2...
Several times already, I helped dominate Dustbowl section 1 within minutes by Cap then sac, then switch to a scout to get up the second point fast enough to effectively help the guys trying to cap (as teleporters would not have been built that fast) or Playing a sniper to take them out long distance, and going back to spawn to instantly switch to a heavy if the enemy's pushing on the cap point (dustbowl section III)
shit like that, none of those stats can account for... lol... sorry for gloating but w/e, I own :P
Damn, someone beat me the day after I get up to 10... lol I'm back in 11... wait till the weekend I guess..
Um... I just checked... It doesn't add up the stats per steam ID...
GL84's stats didn't change and thus is at 11...
while...
[GNG-r]GL84's stats are 314th - 153 points...
Damn that's sad... :(

Also for psychostats... who knows what noobs were on at the time they were going because a couple stupid people can help someone's K:D ratio a ton
Think of it this way GL... you'll also have to start from 0 when your drop the r from GNG-r

Yeah, I don't like psychostats for this reason. If I wanted amazing K:D ratio, I'd play sniper all day, but this doesn't mean my team is gonna win any more games.
Personally, the only stat I really care about isn't tracked by either of our stats-trackers. Buildings destroyed.
I really wish there was representation for this on the stats tables, cause nobody blows up as much shit as me =P

Oh durrr..
I didnt see those stats before =-/
[GNG]POOSTICK : 701 Dispensers destroyed
1027 Sentries destroyed
410 Teleporters destroyed
I still stand by my statement though..noone blows up as much shit as me =P
The "stats" list for Gametracker is just a rank of points accumulated. Which basically means the people who play the most, or just rack up lots of points, are towards the top. Vsaint hasn't been on our servers in almost 2 weeks and he's still #5 on Gametracker's list. Just the sheer number of hours Poostick, tucket, and myself put in we'll probably always be in at least the top 10 if not top 5.
Psychostats on the other hand is much more complicated. It takes many different attributes to calculate a skill level. And the more time you play, the less drastic your skill level will change.

I know... I'm quite sad about that :frown:
Oh well, being on Top 10's still cool though... even though it doesn't take into consideration a lot of things...
Regardless, we all know who's good or better at what...

It seems that way, but then when I look at the stats #1-#117 contain mostly people who have <3 hours played time. Personally I don't see so many people better than people who play every day to be an accurate representation of skill.
I wonder if there is a way to filter out such people, cause I feel it really detracts from a lot of the purpose of the stats (comparing your skill to those you play with a lot). But hey thats just my opinion
Well the reason the people at the top tend to have such short amount of time played is exactly what I said before. The longer you play the less your skill changes. But the inverse of that is the shorter you play, as in a few hours, the easier it is to get a really high skill rating if you rack up alot of points.
I can look and see if there's like a minimum amount of hours played before it will rank the players.
