What is it?


Go to chumby.com I got one for my b-day to replace my alarm clock and its the coolest gadget I have ever had, and I love gadets. In a nutshell its a small lcd screen in the sewn up little sack thing so it kinda sits there like a mini-mini bean bag with a small screen in it. With this you can send widgets for it to display, like clock widgets, news widgets, youtube widgets, u fuckin name it and you can get it on that screen.....i think its the coolest new techo-gadget out there.

I miss the point of what a widget is, but will read up.

-So it plugs into the wall and sits by your bed/acts as your own personal stuck-to-the-wall alarm clock with cool features?

Basically.

U can choose different widgets

which include many different things, u can add as many as you want and put them in channels and it will cycle through the widgets on the channel you select and display them (u can adjust times and what not for it to show each widget)


The widgets I am using now on my main channels are:

DEFAULT CHANNEL

like 10 differnt clocks (i do this cause i put a clock like every 4th widget in the list so the odds of me rolling over and seeing the time are higher)

2 flickr widgets set to show pics of paris and Volkswagen GTIs ;)

Google and NYtimes News Widgets

a fireplace widget
a snow widget (shows different scenes snowing)

the I CAN HAS CHEESEBURGER widget (shows their pic of the day)

Astronomy pic of the day

weather channel widget

yahoo top searched widget--displays current top searches

engadget widgets---shows gadget news

oh, and a channel where i can email photos to and it will display them.

I have a 2nd channel created so far titled "animated"

ANIMATED CHANNEL
the reason i put these on a second channel is so they arent with the other ones that cycle cuz i use that channel when im laying in bed trying to sleep or wat not, and since they make noise and show video, i dont want them going off at 3 am waking me up, but i can grab the chumby and tell it to go this channel and then view whatever i like

On it i have put video widgets

you tube vids of the day

youtube's "how it should have ended" humorous hypothetical endings to movies

drive in movie of the day

a cool animé channel that shows some full length animé episodes (which it needs to add new ones cuz ive seen all the ones it has)

there is a random channel that shows old old old skool cartoons like bugs bunny and or woody the woodpecker (staples of my childhood cartoon craze)

a game called chumby ball--which is a ball that sits in a maze and u move it aroud by tilting the chumby-it has a motion sensor in it.

there are many other little games too
but i havent messed with them yet
most use the chumby's motion sensor to interact with it

some widgets doo too, like this clock that u can shake the chumby and the numbers change.

and some new experimental chumby chat channel they are trying.
