I have a choice between two Beagles... Eddie and Elwood. The first two pictures are Eddie (body and face). The second two pictures are Elwood... (body and face). I'm leaning towards Elwood!

Thats a real hard choice you got there. I hope you are in good shape because beagles like to run around alot and are very energetic.

I agree. My ex-roommate has a beagle-lab mix and she loves to run around and play. When she was a puppy she loved to tear the house apart. We have her in a pen during the day. Just my experience.

Yeah, I'll get him when he is only about 8 weeks old, so I can name it whatever I want. The wife and I decided on Elwood (the second set of pics) and his name will probably be Dudley! Yay!

Best thing to do when picking a dog is to spend a little time with them when they get around 6-8 weeks old. You really get to see each pups personality and can then pick the one you really want by his/her personality fitting what you were looking for. Just going off looks and at such a young age might run you into having a hyper shy dog when you really wanted an outgoing one.

I agree with Solomn. Pick the more curious, friendly, and/ or explorative of the litter. The shy ones can grow up well-adjusted if they are well-loved. You have to ensure they are socialized VERY frequently with other dogs, kids, and people, esp at the early ages.

It would be difficult to spend more than a couple of hours with either of these pups as the lady who breeds them lives about 2 hours away. At any rate, since she is a breeder and she has 3 young children it would be hard for me to imagine that any of her pups would be anti-social.

We'll pick up the pup when he is about 8 weeks old and have him for 3 weeks. Unfortunately I have a cruise in June so I will have to bring the pup back to the breeder for puppy sitting. Either that or we can leave the pup with her the entire time, but we've all decided it would be best to bring him home as soon as possible.

I can't wait to get my puppy. I'll be picking up a Boston Terrier pup when I move to Houston. The apartment agent's friend is a breeder.

I'll be picking one up like this once it's old enough to be separated.
