I'd take it as another joke and it would be a way to rival their old jokes - and it does come about when naruto is getting "good". So they would be laughing their asses off if it was a fake announcement, lol. At the same time it makes sense that they'de do it, but at the same time - why would they care... and why don't they put something in their episodes so the people uploading know? lol....
Opinions?
I can't even get to the site, what did the post say?

That they had been asking people not to put their anime on dailymotion/youtube, etc because it calls attention to their fangroup as a copyright issue. That multible companys are buying up the licences to use naruto/shippuden also and because of that their fansubbing group is a prime target if their anime is plastered all over every website.
It just said that they know the people uploading stuff everywhere for people with slower connections/etc to get have good motives, but they are going to get them (the fansubbers) in a lot of trouble. And that they have asked nicely, but now they will halt all further anime fansubbed releases until further notice, effective immediatly.
"Till further notice", was my words tho. What they actually said, was... "indefinatly".

Yep, dattebayo is dead.
I'm not so sure they are down for good, or by their own choice. I was reading forum posts about whether people though what they stated was another troll post or not. There aren't any Naruto or Bleach episodes for a few weeks now with the New Year coming up. So they could have posted that, legitimately not wanted people to post shitty quality videos on youtube, but using the down time to get their point across.
Their site being down I think is another issue. If you check what their DNS resolves to, it's your local machine. I think they got DDoS'd shortly after they posted that. I don't know if it was coincidence, or because someone was pissed they were going to quit subbing. So the DNS records point to basically nothing now to prevent attacks to their site, and give them time to figure how to avoid another DDoS attack. Either working with their ISP or moving the site somewhere.

:lol:Thanks for that wonderful debate. :D
They released a subbed little anime song after they posted that I believe which was odd, then the site went down. But with no Shippuden until the 10'th of Jan, your right.... It would be a ideal time to screw with everyone.
And the Denial of Service would explain the sit being down... and the dns issue.
But they keep their identitys pretty secret and don't talk about anything much, and they just don't seem the type to be freaked out, lol....
Oh well, we'll see soon, either way its ok BECAUSE... well, it isn't ok... lol. I don't want any blotchy yellow fuzzy subtitles that are spelt wrong and have the timing off.
