Are there any of you guys or gals that play a instrument? How long have you been playing and what music do you play? I've been playing for 11 yrs on guitar and i play anything from classical to neo-classical metal. Just curious

I recently picked up playing the guitar. I've been mainly playing classic and hard rock but i can only play about 1/4 of the songs i come across.

Once upon a time I played the drums. However I have always wanted to learn the guitar, but I dont have the time to put into it. Thats one reason I quit playing drums.

1. Drums are EXPENSIVE!!
2. Drum practice takes too much time
3. Drums are loud (But thats what makes them so fucking cool)

Ok you asked for it.

1: Euphonium (small tuba)
2: Trumpet
3: Tuba
4: Bass Guitar
5: Tombone

The list goes on really. I can play any brass instument you give me and I started playing the bass 5 years ago...something like that. But I was a band geek as you can see.

Drums... haven't been playing for too long though

I would have to say the style is alternative-rock / hard rock, with a twist of punk

hopefully will eventually form into a possible band

Without chicks no one would play music or grow long hair.

Both are things men do to get laid..

Facts, the anti-drug..

I used to play guitar bass and drums, and when I was in elementary school I played the flute (no, not the skin flute). It wasn't for me though...I eventually got bored with them all and picked up DJing. (I'm sure the drugs helped) and now I do that and electronic music production.

Flute for 17 years
Piccolo for 13 years
Saxophone for 13 years (though I'm not very good with this one)
Penny Whistle for 17 years
Recorder for 17 years
I can sing
I played Flute and Piccolo in College, was the only piccolo in the University's Wind Ensemble while being the only flute player in the Ensemble that wasn't a music major. In other words, I play flute and piccolo very well. :) And I love every minute of playing. I wish I had the opportunity to play now, but alas I don't. :(

Angel you must listen to classical music? If you played the flute and picolo my mother played the flute when she was in college. I love classical music Mozart,Bach, Teleman, Pachabel, they are all great composers.

I second that. Sad thing is I used to listen to classical in my quake1 days. Nothing like some calming music to go gib players with.

Here!
15 yrs, since h.s. breakthrough learning how to play lead on electric guitar. Also acoustic guitar, bass, and violin when I was younger. Influences, RUSH, Yes, VH, Satriani, et all.. I think Reb Beach is awesome, but love all the others.. even Yngwie... but my most fave alterna/metal band right now is Dreamweaver. These days, been getting alot more into the phrasings of SRV.. would love to learn to be able to hang w. Jazz someday.

The first music i learned how to play was classical music then i got into thrash metal I first started with just rhythm guitar then i progressed into lead tapping sweeping and more technical techniques. Right now i'm playing neo-classical metal/power metal.Anyone ever hear of Joe Stump he reminds me of Yngwie J. Malmsteen but on steroids Joe Stump also has a band called Reign of Terror very remniscent of Rainbow. I love some the 80's/hair metal too George Lynch formerly of Dokken is one of my favorite rock/metal guitarists Warren Demartini/Robin Crosby of Ratt are awesome (RIP Robin) Glen Tipton and K.K. Downing of Judas Priest are awesome. Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers from Iron Maiden are amazing. Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson of Testament are really good thrash metal guitarists Jason Becker Mary Friedman when they were in the band Cacophony Jason was stricken with ALS so he cant play but he uses a computer to write and compose his music. Tony Macalpine, Vinnie Moore are great.
