As 2007 comes to an end, the heads of several cable companies were asked (http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/Stock%20News/945996/) to predict what they see happening with the industry in the New Year. Here are some of their predictions:

o Broadband video viewers will return to cable TV (according to ICTV s COO).
o Cable will benefit from the networks viewer losses resulting from the writer s strike (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/89076).
o Comcast will continue fighting (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/90322) the FCC s caps in the courtroom.
o Competition will increase from online video providers. This will lead to a change in the programming on cable channels.
o The buzz words are going to be HD and On-Demand.
o The cable companies will be highly competitive in the bundled Internet and phone markets particularly where small businesses are the consumers.

Not all of the predictions were so serious. There were joking predictions that included FCC s Kevin Martin heading to Alabama to work for Comcast and comments about the popularity of American Idol.

Some more fact-based plans for the year are available (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071228/ap_on_hi_te/comcast_founder_s_compensation) from Comcast regarding executive employee changes and alterations in pay. These include that Financial Officer co-chief John Alchin will be retiring at year s end, leaving co-chief Michael Angelakis as the sole CFO.
