Where are the heavy metal stations on satellite radio? Shit is ridiculous. They've got everything else but that and I know HM has a pretty large and loyal following, granted they do only like their distinct genre of metal. I know I don't like the thrash type metal with fast beats, I'm more of a doom or symphonic, even viking type of metal guy.

Doesn't seem right!

Well, I'm hoping they combine forces already and stop being douches...

I hope they merge too, for financial reasons!!!!!

I have had xm radio since it began
I love it.
I have never heard any of sirius' stations so I have no clue
what they are like.

But I am very happy with xm, THOUGH some channels have been slipping in small annoying commercials!! Argh, which is why i left the regular radio behind, cause its like 80% commercials and then repeats.

Sirius has Howard Stern

XM has Opie & Anthony

Not sure if I would pay a monthly subscription to either service myself, but if I did I'd do it to listen to O&A uncensored. Howard hasn't had anything interesting to say in years. Not sure what the difference in offerings in music is between the two, but I believe XM is bigger has more content.

You have to have competition though!

"When companies compete - you win!" =P

if they merge - they could ream you with any price they want to because they have no one to compete with. However, it would make for a more well-rounded radio station thingy

I want them to merge cuz bizz will make some money on the ole shitty stock market if they do! I even voted for them to merge!\

But that aside, I don't have it for sports, go figure guys!
I just have it for the music, initially it was for one simple reason, there were too many fucking commercials on the radio.

So I got xm, no commercials.
And I am weird about my music, i go through a wide variety of phases with what genre I was to listen too, its never the same, one day it may be R&B, another it made be 60's music. And since I have this varietal craving, xm is perfect, im sure sirius would work too, but at the time my deciding factor was that XM has/still has 2 satellites, and sirius only has one, unless they launched another one. Now, what difference does that make? fuck if i know, but 2 is better than one :)

and yes,

when companies compete, you win, lmao neb!

From what I can tell XM has more/is better, and sirius has the dog logo.

One has opie and anthony, (who?)... and the other has howard stern (why?)... One has music up the wazoo... and one may be slightly main-stream with not enough refined music for the specific user...

God, I'm just waiting a bit to see what happens... you guys are leeching 10$ out of my bank account already. ;)

Just got a free year of Sirius with my new truck. So far I like it. Only thing that sucks is the stock radio in my truck doesn't really allow you to take advantage of everything you can get from Satelite radio, like what song is being played by what artist on the display, limited number of programmable buttons (10), and other features.

I hate that if I'm under anything like an overpass on the freeway or the overhead at the gas pump I lose the signal. I even lose it parked in my house garage.

I also hate how one day they will play some great stuff on a specific channel and shit the next day. Howard is somewhat amusing, but running out of good ideas and content. My wife the loves the reggae channels and some of the talk radio.

I also just got my first real MP3 player, so I'm caught in the middle. When I'm in the truck, sometimes I can't decide what to listen to -- MP3 or Sirius.

Still not sure if I'll renew my subscription. Got a year to figure it out.

Excuse my typing if its sort of odd at all.

But the satallite radio's have some that can record/play like 60 or so minutes of music - because satallite is meant (not purposely) to go out int unnels and such. They don't work well at all under those conditions..... thats why they make some with a record feature.

Your best bet might be to pop off the stock radio and replace it - if it has controls through the radio for the truck they do make 3rd party smaller control units - then you can add a 3rd party head unit.

I took mine to my radio guy... had a kill switch put in, had power/remote/ground cables run to the back of my car and priced upgrading the radio so I can play my mp3 player. I had the option of a antenna bypass with mp3 player charge/play/etc hookups. They sell custom replacement control type units for your stock radio controls - which cost 200-300 dollars. Then the price of a head unit+assessories, lol....

Basically what I'm trying to say, is unless you want to drop 600$ on replacing your headunit and upgrading the satallite... and if the fact your reception cuts out really bothers you - then you might not want to keep it, lol. To put it in my car it was going to cost me a arm and a leg. So I opted against it concidering I can burn music I like rather than listening and feeling hopeful.

P.S .. I just got a free year of towing via AAA. Covers 100 miles per service calls+all the trimmings. 4 service calls total.

I heard they are going to merge too. They were waiting for the OK from the FCC. About a month back I heard the FCC OK'd it but that is the last I heard.

Ya considering it took a year to even get this far.....lets see how long the FCC wants to fuck with it.

FCC says its fine... I heard that a few months ago.

"Not a substancial reason to think that the joining of the 2 companys would create unfair competition or promote a monopoly" .. or something like that, lol.

Basically I guess saying.. if you both sell a product no one else has but your customer is pissed that each of your services are missing products the other one has... then why not? .. eh
