Ok, so I managed to find this 21" IBM P200 fucking BEAUTIFUL trinitron monitor at a store that was basically just a glorified Salvation Army. I bought it for 25 bucks, LOL. It looked like shit but it's amazing what some windex and lysol can do. It looks brand new now. Muahaha. It's literally bigger than my TV.

The PROBLEM: I can't get my color and gamma settings to look right. Also it seems like there are little gaps of black in the corners that I cant seem to get rid of well by tweaking. I'm wondering, is there a program out there that will set all this shit for me automatically or will I just have to fool with it myself until I'm satisfied? Taking the resolution up to 1280 or whatever made everything much clearer and easier on the eyes. I just want everything to be perfect.

What should I set the R G and B color settings to? It gives me like a 6500 option, a 7200, and another one which is what I have it set on now. I also set the R G and B each to 100. Is that bad? Is it different for everybody because of drivers, hardware, etc, or is there a universally accepted way of setting this shit?

Ok, my screen just went black and I got an error saying my graphics accelerator has been reset and the VPA or something wasn't responding. Maybe this wasn't such a great deal, lol.

Try majorgeeks.com. They have several progams designed to help you tune your screen last i checked.

I've been fooling with it all night and I think I've got it at an acceptable level. Doom 3 is still a little too dark but I adjusted the brightness to compensate and now hopefully all is well.

This monitor is great. I found it on another website going for 550 dollars, lol. Moral of the story, do your shopping at the Salvation Army!

glad things are working out..

what probably happened earlier was you set some setting beyond what the monitor was able to compensate for, and it went back to 'default'

and as for doom 3... that game is forever dark... I have a little bit of a 'darkness' problem myself with my computer (old ass VGA display).... after much tweaking and almost washing out all of my video settings.. the game was still dark... just the way it was designed I guess.
