I really miss the fact that there were multiple skins to original CS. I just wish there was more to each team then one skin. Are there any downloadable skins for source? If not does anyone know if they are doing any other skins somtime?

After some trial and error I figured out how to mod the piss out of CS Source without any problems right now.

First things first is where do all the files go.

Most of your files are going to be imported into:

1. C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\JohnDoe@whateveryouremailis. com\counter-strike source

Now the next thing to know is hey where do all those other files go once I get this far.

1. Most of the time when you download a weapon skin it has 2 to 3 folders inside of it. One is for the sound, one is for the model, and the other is for the skin itself.

2. Sound files should be put into the Sound folder in the in the main directory listed above. Once you find the sound folder open it up and make a folder titled weapons. Put all of your weapon sounds into this folder.

3. Next is the models folder. In your main directory like listed 2 times before make a folder called models. Inside that folder make a folder called weapons. Inside this folder put all the files with the v_ and w_ extensions.

4. Next is the tricky part. In the super main directory for your CS Source for the THIRD TIME..I hope you know where it is and what the hell im talking about by now. Go into the folder that says materials. In that file should be a file called models. Open the models folder and make a new folder called weapons. Inside that folder make a folder called v_models. Inside that folder you will put all your new weapon skins into. For every weapon you put in the v_models folder you must make a seperate file for each weapon. So lets say you want to put a new deagle in your CS game. You would go from the main directory, materials, models, weapons, v_models and STOP. Make a folder titled pist_deagle. Inside that folder put all the model files for the actual look of the gun.

I know the last part was pretty confusing, but if you know the placement of the files you can pretty much wing it from there. Usually when you download a weapon skin its going to be in a WinRar file. When you open said file you will see all the folders in front of you. Just move those into the folders I showed you above and you should be all good. Also dont worry about the extensions for the weapon names in the 4th part above. Most of the skin downloads will have that folder already named. All you have to do is drag and drop it into the v_models folder.

Also since we cant have modded stuff for OGL I do believe, when its time to play just cut and paste the folders out of their main directories and into a new area and things will revert to your normal CS game. If you have any questions or im not being clear enough (which im prob not) post up, PM me, or AIM me at L1veUndead.

btw here is a great place to start looking for weapon skins if your interested to do so. http://banana.nu/?section=viewlist.skins.skincat.main.2

I got my new Deagle, AK, Colt, and Knife skins from their.

Interesting post L1ve, very informative. Since I'm new to the CS world that is awesome. I use to play Quake, Quake was my game of choice, main reason I never got into the first versions of CS. not Q2 or Q3 but Quake! But I customized everything that you could in that game. From models to weapons to HUDs to textures for most levels. At a point I had all the maps textures taken out and replaced with blue and white, easier to spot the enemy but took the fun out of it. This is a start of customizing my CS.

I browsed through that site you linked. First will be the deagle then my elites.

Thanks sir.
