New Hampshire regulators have given their approval (http://www.wmur.com/news/15407545/detail.html) for the sale of Verizon's New England DSL and landline networks to Fairpoint Communications. The $2.7 billion deal is a financial boon for Verizon, eliminating $1.7 billion in Verizon debt and giving them a $600 million tax write off. New Hampshire was the last state to approve the deal, with Maine, Vermont and the Federal Communications Commission already giving the nod. Fairpoint, who previously managed just 300,000 phone & DSL lines, will now add 1.7 million more to that total.
