A hacker has managed to port a functional P2P client to the iPhone based on the Mac Transmission BitTorrent client. According to Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/362823/iphones-first-native-p2p-torrent-app-is-up-and-running), there's unfortunately no GUI yet and the application will drain your battery before you can say Steve Jobs. You also probably don't want to engage in P2P over AT&T's 200kbps EDGE network -- tests have shown the two simply don't play nicely together (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/03/02/iphone-gets-native-p2p-torrent-software/). Instead, you'll obviously want to seek out a Wi-Fi network. Definitely preliminary software, but it is a first.
