If you recall, Verizon has been offering new FiOS users a free 19" LCD HD set (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/91298) should they sign up for a new service bundle. Given Verizon's FiOS billing problems (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/86464), it wasn't too surprising to see our users complaining that the process of actually getting the television wasn't a smooth one (http://www.thegng.org/forum/r19780580-Has-anyone-received-the-free-Sharp-19-inch-LCD-HD-TV~days=10). This is how it was supposed to work:Two to three weeks after all your bundle components are installed and working you will receive a letter in the U.S. Mail. The letter will include a username and password for a website address to redeem the promotion. You must claim your gift award within 45 days of receiving the letter in the mail.
Unfortunately, many users aren't getting those letters, and attempts to have their complaints heard are resulting in a lot of banging against Verizon's sometimes painful phone support systems. The annoyance volume seems to be growing, judging from this Consumerist report (http://consumerist.com/363118/verizon-fios-free-lcd-tv-promotion-resulting-in-a-lot-of-angry-customers). NYC's ABC affiliate also reported (http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/7_on_your_side&id=5930371) on the problem last month.
