John Rigas and his son, Timothy, today lost their final appeal (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080303/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_adelphia_fraud) of their convictions for fraud, which ultimately resulted in the implosion of the nation's fifth-largest cable television company, Adelphia. Eight-three year old John Rigas is serving a fifteen year prison sentence while his son Tim is serving his twenty year sentence; both used personal company funds on everything from real estate to bedroom slippers, then tried to cook the books in order to hide the company's debt. The company was created in 1952 and went bankrupt in 2002. The majority of those customers are now serviced by either Comcast or Time Warner cable.
