NTT DoCoMo says they've just completed tests of "Super 3G" wireless technology in which they achieved downstream speeds of 250Mbps (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,143849-pg,1/article.html). The company's Super 3G technology is technically included under the LTE (Long Term Evolution) umbrella, and is theoretically capable of speeds up to 300Mbps. The goal is to use Super 3G to bridge the gaps between existing HSDPA systems and future LTE deployments. The company has transmitted data at almost 5Gbps to a receiver moving at 10 kilometers per hour using 4G technology. Commercial Super 3G, if launched at all, would hit the market in 2010 -- and that's Japan.
