Last year, we mentioned (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/85657) how a 75-year-old Swedish woman was given a 40Gbps fiber connection by her network engineer son, who was testing long-range fiber connectivity. Slashdot (http://idle.slashdot.org/idle/08/03/31/131235.shtml) directs our attention to a follow up that notes the woman primarily uses the connection....to dry laundry (http://www.thelocal.se/10810/20080331/). "Swedish Internet legend" Peter L thberg's test gear (not specified) was large and warm enough to dry clothes, its primary user uninterested apparently in its other possibilities. As part of continued testing, his mother may soon be seeing a 100Gbps connection, which we assume she'll use to bake cookies.

The higher end models of washers and dryers have ethernet hookups I'm pretty sure. They communicate with each other back and forth.

They also have long metal pins that go in the back of the washers to keep the barrel from moving around. Which if left in, then turned on.. causes the washer to throw itself around and put holes in walls - we learned that the hard way.
