Comcast isn't too happy that FCC boss Kevin Martin didn't shower the cable company with kisses last week when they announced (via carefully worded press release) they'd be adopting "protocol agnostic" traffic shaping methods by the end of the year. The FCC boss last week issued a statement (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/93045) saying that now that Comcast has admitted error, the FCC wants a more firm commitment to when they'll stop "blocking" BitTorrent traffic. Said Martin:"I am pleased that Comcast has reversed course and agreed that it is not a reasonable network management practice to arbitrarily block certain applications on its network. I also commend the company for admitting publicly that it was engaging in the practice and now engaging in a dialog with BitTorrent."
But Comcast is saying they've admitted nothing (http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6546469.html), Comcast VP David Cohen writing in a letter that "Comcast has not now admitted anything about Comcast s network management practices that we previously denied." We noted yesterday (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/Meanwhile-Comcast-BitTorrent-Throttling-Continues-93145) that tests show the provider continues to forge TCP packets to block/derail/prevent 63% of BitTorrent connections for all users. Comcast's game of semantic patty cake will also apparently be continuing.
