Remember Ricochet? The popular 128kbps wireless provider who fell into bankruptcy back in 2001 (http://www.marketwatch.com/News/Story/Story.aspx?guid=%7BFFA11466%2DDB38%2D4003%2D9D33%2 D5985C1E084CA%7D&siteid=yhoo)? The company that was subsequently sold and re-sold (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/35640) to an endless stream of companies, resulting in the overuse use of "they'll bounce back" puns? Well they're finally officially dead (http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20080331/235001713.shtml). Current-owner Civitas, which had kind of kept the network alive in Denver, announced this week they're shutting the system down. In the age of Wi-Fi and 3G, it simply no longer had a home in the marketplace. The current Ricochet website (http://www.ricochet.com/) has more:Civitas Wireless Solutions, LLC regrets to announce we will be ceasing to operate the Ricochet wireless network in the Denver metropolitan area effective March 28th, 2008.
